I can't decide if the best bit is "Brian is personally very upset about this" ( ) or "we have nothing against you personally because you have shown genuine remorse"

What are you, a district judge?

This thread is getting better and better...Hall of Fame potential...

STAR - how to make yourself look really stupid, come out with a comment that "the club and Brian are very upset"...behave yourselves  as has been mentioned numerous times, nothing in the forum would have been said which wasn't supposed to in anyway be spoken about outside of the forum...regardless of what any of you fleece wearing helms may want to try and make out in your defence.

But hey, you've got me worried...I'm half expecting a call from the club or a letter at home when I get in to say that my ST has been cancelled and I'm banned from going to matches because I've seen some top secret information!!!

This little incident will do nothing for your credibility and I agree that Crypy should ask for his money back...Oh and incidently has anyone from the club actually contacted Hobnob or STAR or has this just been completely made up to try and help STAR out of the mess!!!

There is little point asking Star any questions they wont reply. They dont have the decency (time as they are busy running companies) to do that.

FWIW I always saw 'the 1871 club', which is what we called the group of people who started RR, as something that would eventually turn into a supporters association when there was a need and big enough fanbase. Would not serve the same purposes as STAR (wouldn't want to get into putting on coaches or anything) but would be a banner under which some of our supporters could talk to the club (they ignored us when I made initial approaches last year).

If people are serious about that then I could stick a page up somewhere online where people can put their suggestions and see if something takes shape.

Looks like a 80's Book club. Not one of a forward thinking modern football club.

Whether the STAR volunteers look like an 80's book club or a bunch of supermodels is irrelevant and we shouldn't judge them on this, particularly if your the sort to throw a wobbly if someone posts a photo of you on here.

Z175 I'm very surprised at the abuse of STAR in this thread. In my humble opinion, its unwarranted and bang out of order.

I'm not a do-gooder myself, and I'm not a committee type person and don't normally appreciate such people. But in the case of STAR, they have an important role to bridge the fans and the club. I'm grateful to the individuals who run it and organise it, like many fans, I'm not currently a member, I rarely use the coaches and I've never been to a fans forum.

I logged into last week HNA to see if there was any gossip from the forum, and not seeing much, remembered that its normally kept behind closed doors.
I appreciate that not everyone would know this and thus I'm not surprised somebody posted a transcript, and equally I'm not surprised the CLUB asked HNA to remove it. I fail to see that this has much to do with STAR at all. Had I posted the transcript, I would not like to be recipient of a PM telling me off, who would?!

I had a PM on Friday from STAR, effectively telling me that the situation was my fault, apparently I should have known about the history of these events without needing to be told. It was also made clear that the club and Brian personally are "very upset" - again, the implication being that my actions, and my actions alone have upset them, and STAR now have a lot to do to repair the relationship.

Finally I was told that STAR have nothing against me "because you have shown remorse" - again the implication is that all this is my fault

But I don't see that the content of that apparent PM is anything to get worked up about, its more just contextualising the fact the thread needed to be removed. The thread was written on HNA and removed at the request of the CLUB. STAR are just caught in the middle, which suggests they are indeeed fulfuilling exactly that remit, to be in the middle. To post pictures of the people running this organisation on a messageboard is to invite trolling and toally disincentivise individuals from giving their time and effort to add something to our following of RFC.

Finally, most people know that Brian is selective with his words to the media. He took the opportunity to be honest at the forum, and it sounds like that puts the club in the unfortunate situation of practically lying about events in January. Not having read the offending thread or been to the forum, thats my assumption. I cant think any of us would like this "fact" publicised widely, because if the players were to consider this when we finish 8th this season, history will no doubt repeat itself. 3 years, continuity, lets not upset the boat. Its in all of our interests to accept no one is to blame, the thread is gone, who knows what happened, in the words of Brian, "We move on".

You're a fool if you think the majority of contributors to this thread have any interest in being reasonable about this. Leave it alone and it'll go away eventually.

It seems there are 2 conversations running here, firstly aorund what happened with OP, and what is STAR's actual role (I have read their documentation, and to be fair, am not sure their actions echo their publicised remit).

In order to clear this all up may I suggest a "STAR forum" along the same lines of the fans forum, whereby STAR Board members can answer questions from existing STAR members, as well as those who wish to understand the workings of the organisation fully (be that as prospective members or merely RFC fans, who may or may not want to be members, but have questions)?

It would be far easier to set up than a "Fans Forum" for STAR as they will not have to invite any Reading FC players or management, just be there themselves (obviously we know they are busy people, but I'm sure there must be scheduled meetings for the STAR team, surely one of them could be re-arranged to accompdate this), and open the invitation out to all (obviously numbers permitting etc..)

The rules and regulations as to what can, or can't, be reported subsequently can be distributed beforehand (online or otherwise), we all then can will have the opportunity to understand the workings of the organisation and get answers to the questions posted on here and elsewhere.

I feel this is would be far better way to handle the (mis)understanding of STAR's role than on this forum, or by dropping into the STAR portakabin on a one on one basis, as at least we can then all have the opportunity to discuss at once (subject to the aforementioned regulations obviously).

Just a thought . . . . over to you STAR . . . .

Maybe they should focus on the fans as the foundations on the club side are well bedded.

I feel the biggest (perhaps only) failing of STAR is communication with the fans, It's not timely and perhaps not clear and in the case of the PM to Cypry even threatening. Perhaps this miscommunication is distorting our view of STAR? - I can't imagine they communicate with the club in this way.

As for bridging the gap between fans and the club, They should remember they are not in neutral and certainly not in bed with the club, They are a Supporters Trust and they need to represent the supporters and the supporters have to trust them.
