is that it? I'm pleasantly surprised.

may well be a mock-up of Sportings from last season but it's a real nice top

So, is the new shirt finally going to appear on the OS this week or will we still be waiting in August.

Lots of other clubs get their new shirts out at the tail end of the previous season but not Reading - always kept in the dark for as long as possible......

Would it be any different with another shirt manufacturer I wonder, no thought not

Probably your worst ever effort, Kes. Shocking in fact.

Svlad Cjelli
roadrunner Is it going to be the back end of July before we see the new shirts again?

I never understand why we're made to wait so long when other clubs and literally months ahead of us in both reveiling the new kits and selling them.

Puma have manufacturing slots at their factories, and the slot you get depends upon how many you commit to buy over the season. We sell fewer so we get lower down the priority list.

That's how it was a few years ago, not sure what factors influence it now.

That doesn't sound quite right to me.

I think it's more where we've negotiated our slot in their production runs to fit in with our operating model. If not then your telling me the likes of Brentford, Colchester, Motherwell and Greenock Morton are getting priority over RFC because of bigger order volumes?

I'm sure it's more down to how we want to work rather than a volume issue meaning we're towards the back of the queue.

Not just that HB but it causes such a stir with the keyboard warriors that when the shirts ARE available, there is a mad rush for them

what would "how we work" entail that results in us always getting kits out late?

Probably the club simply don't want to release the new shirts before 1st July (at the earliest) so they can captilise as much as possible on punters (who perhaps haven't realised) coughing up £10 for the "old" shirt to clear stock (of course if they involved fans in the process in the first place then perhaps they wouldn't have so many still to shift).

Or if they kept to the 2 year cycle then perhaps thay might take time to care about the design in the first place....

Discussing and approving the designs will be an annual thing (shouldn't be that regular in my opinion of course) and fitting that into an annual budget and calendar of work for the teams involved.

As a club we might just like the late anouncement as they think it drives a rush for sales before the season.

I'm sure Dirkers was told the reasons he passed on, I just don't believe them when you look at the way other clubs release their kits through the same manufacturer.
