Friday's Legacy
Forbury Lion Speaking of season tickets....

That's a bit old, Forbs. We had their thread on here some months ago. It was a pretty funny read as well.
It was on here a couple of years ago, That's a screenshot I took and uploaded at the time from the Metro online edition. I found it again whilst tidying up my work pc hard drive and thought it was appropriate.

Despite the club saying that only single tickets were available in the east stand, there is a huge section left in Y26, of all places, underneath the scoreboard.

There are indeed, rang up yesterday, two seats in row CC. I get a feeling they hold the seats back below the screen, and only release them if they think they'll sell out everywhere else.

They really don't want people sitting there if they can in any way avoid it.

Maybe the fact they are now available but not being advertised (the bit on the website saying there are only single seats left) is a sign that other places are filling up.

Probably on safety advice those seats are the last to be made avialable due to a) not really bing able to see the scoreboard and b) having away support in your face.

Liking the new designs a lot, especially liking the match ticket designs they've put up also. At last a revamp on the old fashion looking stadium generic ones. We are big time 8)

You would have thought they would want regulars sat there rather than different people there every game if they're that worried about trouble.

Evening all,

I can tell you this is true as we have bought season tickets there right at the back under the score board and had a letter a few weeks ago from the club informing us about the seats we were sitting in were in a volatile area and may not always be available etc etc

Did anyone else get one of these?

A bit miffed off at the fact they sold the tickets anyway in that area, anyway i rang up the ticket offcie today and they said this isn't the case and they are actually selling loads of seats in that section now thank god!

It is strange that they would send out letters only after selling them. What would they have done? Moved you to the non ST south stand?

Anyway, I have my season ticket in there now. NO RUNNERS!

yeah thats what thought, think its more to cover their backs in case anyone complains!

They never told me when i bought the seats that it was a bad area! Even though i knew its not the best place but thats what the barriers are for isnt it and i'm sure they will have stewards in between as well.

This is the reason why it was always cordoned off last year except from the big games to stop trouble occuring etc etc according to the letter.

i did wonder when i bought the seats why it was empty after going to general sale but it makes sense now.....

I sat there once last season and your an easy target for stewards harassing you. I'd stay away from there if I was you.

You sat there once before and make that judgement? I sit half way up Y26 and not far to the right of the scoreboard and we hardly notice the stewards. If anything they've become a lot more relaxed and now allow, to a point, some standing. I've nothing but positive things to say about them based on last season. Hopefully they continue where they left off next season.

Stewarding i think often depends on the game and what the opposition fans are like. If it's Blackpool at home on a Tuesday night with very few traveling fans they are often hardly noticeable and i don't think really bother but (as expected) they're far more on guard when you have a packed away end full of Cardiff fans etc

Our stewards blow hot and cold in my opinion. Some match days are hardly noticeable whereas others they can tarnish the whole day.

The letters were sent out as they were planning on netting off some of the seats (under the scoreboard) in case of any trouble. However, after promotion they have decided to sell them now as the demand is there for as many seats as possible.

So did we sell all 18,000 season tickets?

Also what are the rules now on upgrading kids tickets to adult tickets? I have a Sunderland fan brother in law up North who fancies sitting with us in Y26 with my father in law, but I'll have to upgrade my two childrens tickets.

There is X amount of times a season the ticket can be upgraded. Not sure of the figure precisely but i think it is around 5 times.
