BF11 Just working out the best way to get there. Train seems a bit expensive, although I've read that 'splitting tickets' can cut the cost. Can someone explain this, or show the cheapest way to do this in terms of Reading > Birmingham, thanks!

royalsteve i worked in brum alot over the past 2 years and remember to ask for the following ticket, provided you return same day

Birmingham to Banbury return
Banbury to Brum New Street return

same train as direct and you DONT need to get off at Banbury - unless you are stupid

Its about 3 months since ive used that route so tkts maybe a little more but i paid £34.60 return at peak time, whereas a direct ticket was an outrageous £82 (approx - with the only benefit of being able to return at any time within a month - BUT you could by two singles using the above and it would still be cheaper anyway!)

Never ask for a ticket direct to Brum New Street - as all the scum train operators do, theyll sell you the most expensive ticket (i keep lobbying the ombudsman and government to sort this disgraceful behaviour out as its a joke, alas im a small voice amongst scum)

I've heard others have booked tickets cheaper, so try a few sites before you commit.

Thanks!

So, Reading > Banbury return and Banbury > Brum New St. return?

I've had a look around at other websites, any cheap ones in particular? As most seem ridiculous.

Presumably we're in the Gill Merrick Lower?

Preparing to have to sit in the home end. Slight consolation is there are penty of tickets available in the upper tier.

royal-biscuit-man Once the clock strokes midnight tonight, are you able to buy tickets using the online system? (Royalty Points providing of course).

No. From 9am.

I can confirm trying to buy tickets at 12 oclock at night, does not work
