I was going to drive to Wembley but found that the area within 5 stops (give or take one) either side of wembley is permit parking only.

In Dollis Hill, there are only a few spaces available but its only 4 hours maximum.

I would recommend people to park at Heathrow and get the tube in. For example, Purple Parking costs £13 for a whole day and a Zone 1-6 travelcard for the tube/bus/rail/etc is only £8 so you can go to the match and then go round London after, or go round Llondon then go to the match.

Only recommending this as I've done this in the past and its much easier. Travel time from Heathrow T123 to Wembley Park is on average 62 mins.

Better than that park at nearby Hatton Cross, Hounslow West or Osterley. Get on the Piccadilly line and your en route.
To park for the day at Hatton Cross on a BH it is £4.00
Up the road at Osterley and Hounslow West is £2.00

I often use these when going into Central London

Why get involved with all the bother and cost areound Heathrow see all the other suggestions on this thread, like parking at Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrard's Cross etc and getting the Chiltern Line direct to Wembley. Much, much quicker and cheaper.

As we're coming down the M40 from oop north, it's what we'll be doing, natch. In fact it has other advantages. If you're plenty early, you can of course carry on to Marylebone - have some of the London pre-match experience - come back out on the train to Wembley for the match, and STILL have that quick getaway away from London after the game.

Still haven't decided where we're headed for pre-match. The Green Man is being plugged by so many, on FB as well as on here - think we may give that a miss. Greyhound is even closer, but we may go into London.

where you coming from? why drive all the way to heathrow?

Its 35 minutes from hatton cross into central london on the tube

its 25 minutes on the train from reading into paddington

if you are that determined to drive, drive to northolt park and get the chiltern line
Alternatively uxbridge / harrow and get the metropolitan line

being a bank holiday , many of the parking restrictions may not apply

If you do not want to drive I_b_t then I know that there are lots of guys going from Newbury on both the trains just before 10.00am and 11.00 am. The adult travel card cost is only £22.80 - must be cheaper than your option when you consider petrol costs as well.

Looks like I will be coming in from Romford. TFL website predicts a 1hour 50 minute journey with about 37 changes

I reckon 1tib is the one being ripped off - we've only paid £1 for our kids tickets

Parked in the red car park; no problem getting there and good banter with the Swansea fans streaming in as their coach park was that end, BUT.......firstly, we drove as my partner is disabled, and they shut the steps down from the tier below the Bobby Moore statue to the car parks, so we had to walk down the slope of Wembley Way, then turn around at the bottom and walk all the way back to the car park; utter madness!

And as for getting out of Wembley.....anyone who complains about leaving the Mad Stad should have been in a car yesterday from about 5.15 onwards; simply terrible traffic management. Obviously it didn't help that everyone was going in the same direction (eg: towards the M4 or A40) but even so, it was genuinely appalling.

Concur.
Took so long to get away that there was time for Swansea to have their celebration and still have the opportunity to rub it in after they left as we sat on the coaches.
Deja vu from Cardiff and the Walsall fans.

I found that parking in my dad's front drive in Swiss Cottage and taking the Metropolitan line from Finchley Road was perfect. Sadly not enough room for anyone else to join me!

Due to engineering works on the Norwich to London line I went Norwich to Ingatestone, bus to Newbury Park tube, tube to Liverpool Street, change there, Metropolitan line to Wembley Park, and same on way back.

Added 40 mins to journey time to Liverpool St but that is pretty standard for a weekend or bank holiday as they always have engineering works at weekends just about.

That stretch of line does seem to be - it's not unheard of for works to overrun into the Monday morning rush hour which had led to many enraged commuters in the past.

a bit of local knowledge, a £25 car parking space and still time to clap off our crestfallen team

Back in Reading well within 2 hours of the final whistle
