jonboy29red so the club say that by entering the gound my image can be posted on the web site surely my permission would be needed? seeing as google have to block out ever face and number plate on street view can i not have that done with mine?

Two totally different scenarios. By agreeing to enter a location where CCTV / Televised games take place it would never be a case of permission is needed. You are not a copyright therefore do not own your own image rights. A photographer can copyright his work with/without a subjects permission.

Still quite "impressed" by the Coventry chief steward openly admitting last season that some of his staff were total arseholes quite happy to try and provoke the away fans and he couldn't control them.

Sadly our generation is part of a learning curve in terms of what society is prepared to accept in terms of electronic and particularly video surveillance; which combined with facial recognition technology has massive potential for abuse.

The technology comes along; manufacturers and suppliers sell the "benefits" to authorities and private companies who are sold on it; yet nowhere is a moments consideration given to the social aspect of all this.

The reason I think it is a big social problem is because it is a TRUST issue; and trust is one of the most important elements of human-human and human-business relationships. Companies filming people who have not done anything wrong are basically saying "we do not trust you".

Unfortunately for the companies who are blindly and not even covertly implementing this technology, trust has to be mutual, and football clubs and their associated policing authorities have to be very careful how they handle this.

To end on a brighter note; at least TVP doesn't (to my knowledge) have dedicated "Football Command Vehicle" police van, complete with mobile CCTV.

They don't need one do they? I'd imagine they've got their own desk in the 'match day command centre' or whatever they call the room with the all TVs and walky talky's in.

That's the same everywhere - a police control room with full view of the stadium is a league requirement; at least at Championship and above and possibly lower but not sure).

But in addition to this, West Midlands police have at least one "Football Command Vehicle" (i've seen them in Wolves and Birmingham but it could be the same one, they're the same force) with a stonking great big CCTV camera on the roof that they follow fans around the town in before the game. Nice.

Those in charge of football policing, both in forces and in clubs should read up on the law of unintended consequences before it's too late!

Well done RFC Stewards on still insisting on checking tiny weeny handbags of old grannies but allowing at least one Cardiff supporter in with a smoke bomb or whatever it was.

And well done for causing a bottle neck with the double parking of Cardiff coaches so that when we were walking down the hill it was an even more difficult journey than usual - not to mention the number of Cardiff walking the opposite direction because they couldn't find their coaches. And why did they allow some Cardiff fans to sit in the triangle right next to the RFC fans in Y26? There were empty spaces in the other parts of the away end, probably where they should have been sitting. Still, my mole at TVP tells me there were no arrests. So that's nice.

Were they sitting in the new Away Family Area? I read in the programme yesterday that they have now created an area for away fans with children.

you would have to be pretty fecking stupid to put a family area at the top of the South End between the two sets of fans.

No they aren't. They are saying "we are managing an unpredictable situation in as comprehensive a way as possible."

Anyone know what it is they stick out of the police control room window which they slide open during matches? Looks like some kind of camera  my money's on a deep focus scanning camera so they can face rec anybody in the East stand.

Click here (Wembly 360 FA Cup Final, 2011) for a very public example of the capabilities of this technology, never mind the possibilities for "law enforcement".

So not only is it perfectly acceptable and safe for away supporters to stand throughout the game but it is now also perfectly acceptable for them to work their way across the stand and try to push past stewards and police to get at the home support! Are TVP really so thick that they can't get an arrest out of that?
