If you don't like them, don't use them.

FL, ask Graham when he's going to approve the user names so it can be updated regularly.

FFS, I can't even make this in to an aeroplane so I can throw this shit on the pitch.
Sort it out STAR,
Paper aeroplane throwing distance competition is where it's at.
Could be some fun pre match/half time entertainment.

There's rarely been a time when the atmosphere has been less in need of an artificial 'boost'. Didn't mind the scarfs as scarfs have some basis in football tradition but this clapper thing has to be the worst idea at the most unsuitable matches I've ever heard. Seriously wtf is a supporters association doing facilitating this utter shit. It will lessen what would have been an excellent atmosphere generated by genuine excitement rather than some cheap tacky crap. I urge supporter to sabotage this utter bollocks.

I think the biggest issue here is that due to the increased performances on the pitch, there is no need to have to 'try' and create an atmosphere with these 'gimmicks' which never work to their full extent as the idea is put forward and then half hearted carried out....sea of scarves being a prime example...as someone posted last week - "if they provide a scarf then great, if they don't I won't bother..."

The best thing that could have been organised would have been something similar to this:

Not only does it look good...it is easily achieved and simple yet effective in 'creating' an atmosphere...

TBH...I'm not overly bothered what STAR suggest...but these 'americanised' ideas don't really fit with a traditional English sport...and do make us look abit mickey mouse..

'greed entirely with Turns and Schards.

It'll never improve an atmosphere, it'll just and us look very very silly/stupid/idiotic/terrible.

The ONLY time clappers would be suitable would be at the Palave game if promotion had been achieved and nothing was at stake.

I won't be using them, in fact I'll be getting there early and trying to hide as many as I can under my seat.

Good grief.

I don't suppose there is anything we can do to stop this?

Just seems like a massive waste of time and money. STAR are an embarrassment to the club.

They should stick to organising coaches and nothing else.

Maybe the East stand could participate in a mass protest by throwing them onto the pitch.

If you think that strongly about it and are a member propose a motion at the AGM to say that the only STAR activity should be organising coach travel. If you're not a member join and do it.

Don't you have to pay to be a STAR member?

They'll be using my hard earned money to buy more clappers

Anyone can make a post on the STAR forum page, Sarah. So why don't one of you start a thread telling everyone what you've done lately or whatever, rather than the usual "we had a fans forum but anyone who is not a member is not allowed to know what was said"?

Not if the only activity allowed is organising coach travel.

I would have thought that people on here are indicative of the wide variety of fans at our club. A swift poll would have helped gauge the popularity ( or lack of it) of this idea and STAR could have informed the club as such, thereby, possibly negating the ire which some people now appear to feel. Personally, it doesn't bother me, as I doubt I'll be using mine.

Although I agree with this...this is also where the whole 'gimmick' then falls to pieces as only part of the ground 'happy clapping' will look cringeworthy... :|

Que the chants of "what the f***ing hell is that!!!"
