RichieBowman I think the time has come for Reading Fc to return to the classic 1970's kit of blue and white hoops, white shorts and white socks with the two blue hoops on the socks as worn by Robin Friday, Steve Hetzke and Oliie Kearns.
Stick a collar on the shirt as well, The last home shirt we had with a collar was the tie-dye faded hoops of 98.

doyleisaroyal Take your pick, Bukta kits are my favourites. Got my first ever shirt in '78 from a sports shop on the Meadway precinct, made of some ridiculous material that ripped my skin to shreds ever time I wor it but I would still never take it off!

http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Reading/Reading.htm

So our first hooped kit was in 1872, which was before QPR existed. We are the original hoops.

As reported on at least two other threads the new kit was finalised some time ago and was worn by Marcus and others last week for a photoshoot at the Mad Stad. The point about having to have a panel on the back must be rubbish because one of Arsenals away kits has proper hoops with no panel.

Why don't people like the current one? I've always thought it looks quite cool, but loads of people hate it. I hate the plain hoops. Just boring to look at.

RichieBowman I think the time has come for Reading Fc to return to the classic 1970's kit of blue and white hoops, white shorts and white socks with the two blue hoops on the socks as worn by Robin Friday, Steve Hetzke and Oliie Kearns. Lets go retro. Lets ditch the current kit as it is naf with the blue shorts , blue socks and no hoops at the back of the shirt. Also there is no tradition in the current kit.

That 1970's kit is my favourite too and would love to see a return to that style.

Some interesting points about the history of our kit though:

It was only as recently as 1996 that we actually reached the point of having worn hoops for more seasons than not.

In our 137 year existence, we did NOT wear hoops for 62 of them.

Of the 75 years in which we have worn hoops, 58 of them were with white shorts and 17 with blue shorts.

In total, we have worn white shorts in 58 years and blue shorts in 79 years.

I guess that suggests that 'tradition' means we should have hoop shirts (75 yrs out of 137) and blue shorts (79 years out of 137)

Actually, those hooped socks don't look too bad if their long enough and on the right legs. I could come round to them.

It always was either:

a) Rubbish but the club couldn't bring themselves to admit it after having used the supposed 'rule' to help justify yet another change in kit design.
b) Blatantly ignored, apparently without sanction, by several other clubs!

Sarah Star Hooped socks look awful, sorry.

I think two thin hoops halfway up the sock look quite good!

we wont be having hooped socks next season.

and Spurs use Puma Europe whereas we use Puma UK hence why our kits and trainingwear is the same as Plymouth, Brizzle City, Coventry amongst others

The kit of the 1970's was not completly hooped it only had two blue hoops half way up the socks. Blue shorts does not look right. I have not bought a new shirt for years but i think it would really sell if the club return to the 1970's shirt. Oh yes you have to have the red numbers on the back as well.

...an Oxf*rd gayboy, not "a". (The word starts with a vowel - "O".)
