No chance of extra time though.

Last train back is the same one from stoke 22:39 - is that doable?

is that 22.39 at Stoke or at Wolverhampton? Should be easy though - station is not that far away. You just need to get through the subway.

Wolverhampton - passes through Stoke a little while later.

Its £55 for train and travel, give or take. Still undecided.

Wolverhampton is south of Stoke.

Which is why the train to Manchester passes through Stoke "a little while later" than it leaves Wolverhampton.

HTH.

Hmm - have just checked train prices. If I get the student ticket and the train it would cost me 32.50 all told. That is a bit tempting.

Only thing is I don't know if I want to pay even 10 pound to see us destroyed...

To answer the original question about trains back from the Wolves match, if you fancy leaving before the final whistle, the quickest way back to Reading is:

Station/Stop Date Time Comments
Wolverhampton Tu, 30.09.08 dep 21:25 2nd class only
Birmingham New Street Tu, 30.09.08 arr 21:48
Birmingham New Street Tu, 30.09.08 dep 21:48 transfer 20 min. walking distance 500 m
Birmingham Moor Street Tu, 30.09.08 arr 22:08
Birmingham Moor Street Tu, 30.09.08 dep 22:18 2nd class only
Banbury Tu, 30.09.08 arr 23:23
Banbury Tu, 30.09.08 dep 23:50
Reading We, 01.10.08 arr 01:09

Otherwise it is the 22:39 Wolverhampton to Euston arr 01:02, for a bus or taxi to Paddington for the 01:34 Paddington to Reading arr 02:29.

For those of a more Mancunian persuasion, assuming a 19:45 kick-off means a 21:40 finish then 15 minutes to the station, the 22:39 Wolves - Piccadilly is the answer. Again, by cutting short the "fun" you can catch the 21:39 arriving Piccadilly 23:02, via Stoke, or 21:44 via Crewe (change) arriving 23:49.

I'll be on the 22:39 ex Wolves (but getting off at Rugby ...)

Cheers for all that UWG.

Looks like it'll be the 22.39 with a bit of wait if I do go.

Bit of a way back from Wolves to Reading for the others! Would put me off anyway.

Cheers.

I have caught a Moor Street to Reading train. It is hell. Slow, backwoods, roundabout, cold hell.

Your condolences much appreciated.
At least I'll get home before midnight though ...

There is a bit more to Rugby than a large hole in the ground owned by a Mexican cement company ... but not a lot!

Just rang up the ticket office. They said that there are still 300 available and it's very likely there will be tickets on the day of the game.

Think I will ring on Monday and make a last minute decision.
