Terminal Boardom This is my last season as a ST holder.

Never again. Even if we get back up to the prem.

I have far better things to do with my life than to spend 3 hours in RG2 and then get home and moan at the wife about how shit we were. I am looking forward to some honest non league football where hopefully there will still be a bit of the old corinthian spirit in existence.

20 or so years ago, I could identify myslef with the club and the players. The likes of Trevor Senior and Kevin Bremner were ordinary, down to earth people who just happened to be paid for playing football. They were honest, genuine people. I can say the same for Mick Gooding who also has to be one of the best blokes I have ever had a laugh, or wind-up with.

The game is so different now. Players are being paid a yearly salary by the week. Perspective has gone out of the window and it makes me feel sick. The players dont care of give a toss as they know that tyhere will be some daft sod not so far away prepared to spunk a fortune for their services.

Prostitutes have more honour than footballers or their agents.

and you can blame it all on SKY

Like Rupert Murdoch, Richard Keys and Andy Gray hold a gun to the players heads and force them to take the money? No. It is not their fault. The problem lies with you, me and the rest of the populace. Those that pay their Sky Sports subscriptions are the ones to take the blame and should carry the can. It is down to us that we demand our clubs to be successful. It is the supporters who demand clubs spend more than they can afford. It is the supporters who cream their pants when we spend £2 million on a player.

Well, I have had enough of this. The end of this season will be when I step off the conveyor belt.

ill do it in any division 1-4
ive watched and payed for worse than this, and i will again
being a fan isnt optional, or something you opt in or out of, or switch on or off,

unless perhaps you have kids, and responsibilities

I have both, and will not pay for 3 adult and 2 concessions in future - just not viable.
I too have watched crap - I don't like crap but would never desert a team for being rubbish. What I can't take is the rip off attitude of the hierarchy and the lack of passion from so many players. I think Reading Town is more fun at the moment!

Will still go to away games as the atmosphere is so much better.... But some home games will be carefully selected and at other times I will watch Reading Town / Henley / Oxford - proper passion with players happy to have a pint with fans after the game.

9/10 WCH. But Oxford??? You are surely having a tin bath. There is absolutely no way I would pay to watch that lot. Same goes for that inbred bunch of sheep shaggers down the M4.

For me it is a choice between Maidenhead Utd, Windsor & Eton or Bracknell Town. Woking may just come into the reckoning as it is not too far from home.

trouble is

you cannot do it retrospectively

This season (for me) has been a waste of money..........and not because of the fayre served on the pitch.

It will be a big decision next season, and it will probably take a bit more than a scarf or a 10% discount voucher for waitrose to sway me.

Feel a bit mugged actually

And miss all the fun? I have paid my money so I will go to the games. Next year I don't renew but pick and choose games where I can get the 2 for 1 offers. Simples!

Thou Voice
brendywendy
Thou Voice The way the fans have been treated by RFC - they deserve no season ticket holders.

I still would probably go and watch the odd match - BUT AS I HAVE SAID TIME AND TIME AND TIME AND TIME AGAIN - the people without a season ticket get better deals then us Season Ticket holders.

DO YOU SEE?

fans havent been treated any worse than any other club

in fact i think our club was quite open about the finances

the club really doesnt need fans like you though no eyes

Conned into early ticket renewals when they had only an intention of playing a reserve team...

Watching time and time again where tickets are discounted...

...perhaps having the fact that you have NO EYES (like me) makes you think that all is good in RFC land, but no, it is not.

DO YOU SEE? ... actually I know you do, through RTG's...

I like this guy..... I do see... so does he. Just a shame others are so blindly loyal and can't see the blatant rip off.

As I have said in the Free Ipswich Ticket thread, this will be my last season as a STH. Travelling up from Bournemouth every home game is becoming a drag TBH. Evening games are gonna be a nightmare, resulting in getting back for midnight. So I'm gonna take advantage of all these BOGOF offers, select which games I want to goto & not bother with any evening games, unless I'm up Reading way for some reason.

More importantly though; I have to admit I feel really cheated by the club for renewing early. And the only benefit from from doing that was for one of my friends to get a "free" seat for 1 match. WHAT A LOAD OF B0LL0CKS!!!!! How does that benefit me????? Had there turned out to be a reasonable saving then fair enough. But there wasn't.

So, personally, after feeling like I got the big fat finger from R£C this season, they can have mine next season.

Reading FC value and respect all of the supporters especially the season ticket holders. We are determined to provide every one of you with value for money as well as world class entertainment.

The football's been shocking, the PR spin from the club is absolute bullshit and Madejski's suffocation of the club is clear to see.

However, I won't let that stop me supporting my team so count me down as one of those mugs who will renew regardless season upon season.

Decided not to renew this season after feeling ripped off last season around the lack of investment by the club and then seeing us sell anyone with an ounce of quality and bullsh*tting with all this spin about having quality youngsters, millions invested in the academy etc. How many of these youngsters that have played this season were in the side yesterday? Experience and quality always shine, we have neither in the current team.

Been watching RFC since 1984, this is the most disillusioned I've ever felt.

Good post R & A.

I might support BR who has to work with what he's given, but I have zero support for the board.

Agree 100% with the negativity filtering all the way down.

Royal & Ancient I have been a supporter since the 1946/7 season, been through some truly awful times, but never before have I been moved to consider shredding my season ticket.

If that's the case, then I'm curious as to why you would only think of shredding your season ticket this year. There has been far, far worse years than this. I seem to recall promotion in 1975/76, the first I witnessed, only for the following year to be ruined by disastrous events both, on and off the field. Wasn't that the season Dunphy was complaining about the players not getting the meat off the butchers they were promised for promotion. Instead the Directors had it....

This is a transitional season but if it's the worst you've seen in 50 odd years then you've had an extraordinary blinkered time.
