I thought this happened at the first season of the mad stad because it took people too long to get there.

Perhaps it was later changed to 7.45 and has now changed back again to 8, but I definitely remember 8pm kick offs in our first season at the jake.

Harpers So Solid Crew Finish 6 go to the game, or do folk go home first?? I really do not see that many folk work past 6pm in town, except in service industries, and they would be working late shifts, so would not make the game. JM manages the KO whatever time, and he is a busy fella.

JM is his own boss and despite being busy can move all his appointments around to suit his own life. He doesn't have to answer to anyone.

When I worked in Watford there were always office people finishing at 6pm. In London, people work until late.

Others work shift work which have rigid start / finish times.

I come from London, leave at 5 pm on the dot, get to the stadium at just the right time for an 8 pm kick-offs. Can't complain.

Well I can a little bit ... In general I hate midweek games. Not getting home till after midnight is crap. And hardly a moment to grab any food either... boo :x

Well, every time I come up for a midweek game, I'm always home after 1am. Doesn't bother me really! ;)

Tell you what, it seems to be a tight squeeze for many people so why don't we make it 8.30, or 9.00...or even 10.00 just to be on the safe side?

But some think 8pm is already too late. The obvious solution is to have a matinee performance at say 5.30 and then an evening show at 9, then everybody's happy

I'd like to say it's not a panto, but given Sheffield Wednesday's performance at the weekend I'm not so sure.

It's generally the police that dictate kick-off times, isn't it? Certainly, I remember the stewarding supervisor moaning to this end when I spoke to him at the Burton League Cup match previously mentioned.

No, only in exceptional circumstance when they get a high risk game moved to an earlier ko to avoid drinking. Can't recall it ever happening at Reading though. The police wouldn't have any say in whether a game is 7.30. 7.45 or 8.

I think the fact that there isn't a train station within miles also means it is a good idea to kick off a little later. More people will be walking of driving (I say driving, but I mean sitting in traffic, occasionally bringing the pedals to biting point).
