Big Foot Honestly I'd love to but I think I'm stapling my bollocks to my thigh instead that day. Shame.

Ouch... takes balls to do that. Good luck

FYI, as a hospitality STH, I can purchase as many tickets as I need before they go on sale to anybody 8)

semtex - are you aware of the phrase "money can't buy class" :?:

No I wasn't aware of that, and yes it's probably true....though money and status can get you access to away tickets without jumping through the loyalty point hoops!

bobby1413 Darn it ...

Gf has under 1000 points on her ST.

the day she is eligible we are in NYC! Will have to make an expensive call or go online if it works

Go online, you can't call the club to book tickets as international calls can't be put through into the telephone system!

It will be 4am in NYC when the ticket office opens. I don't fancy getting up at that time to book tickets to Brentford!

I've done it at that sort of time from the US on a couple of occasions.

Mind you, the time difference worked in my favour once. One of our really big games was coming up (can't remember which) and I knew there was going to be a really high demand for tickets. So I tried logging into the ticket site just after 4pm West Coast time and was delighted to see that, although the club had said ticket sales wouldn't commence until 9.00am, the online ticketing had clearly been set to become functional at 12.01 am.

Tickets purchased and, after tipping off a few people on HNA who were still online in the UK at that time in the morning, off out for a good evening. Just a few hours later, people were waking up in the UK and starting to worry about whether they would be able to get a ticket. I think the club have now plugged that loophole.

Is that even a thing? Hospitality STHs and all their mates get priority over everyone else regardless of royalty points?

Yes it's true. An email to my contact on the commercial team secures however many tickets I need....

What's the deal with hospitality STs? Do you have to pay for a minimum party size for each game?

Our company has 4 tickets which include the food, paid for up front (something like £1500 + VAT per ticket). If you don't use you don't get any credit. Supposedly used for relationship building but often no more than a good jolly.

We scaled down from a box where the situation was slightly different, box paid for up front but food/drink ordered on a match by match basis based on number attending. Choice of silver service, hot 2 course or cold buffet. BUT, box was £14k up front before any extras.

£14k a season? - Sounds reasonable compared to some of the premiership boxes.

Does it include cup games?

I remember someone giving me a stadium tour and local companies were using their boxes mid week for meetings and such like, perhaps if that's in the deal too it could sneak under the radar as meeting room hire.

Box price includes league & cup games and you are also able to use your box during the week for meatings.....

RoyallyFcuked What are the chances of the tickets getting to member card holders with 1000 points? If not I should be able get a mate who has a season ticket to get mine for me.

Anyway, I don't think the new system is fair at all. Basically at the moment someone who has a season ticket this year for the first time has priority over someone who for example, had a season ticket for 10 years but doesn't have one this year?

Yeah good one RFC

So basically older fans should be rewarded over younger ones?

Surely the reverse should be true if anything, like it or not Royallyers they're the future and the likes of you and me are yesterday's news.

Im not actually that old mate, I was born early 90s

I know what you are saying, but I dont think older loyal fans should be rewarded any less than younger ones either. I am a former season ticket holder of 3 years myself but in my opinion people who have commited the money for 10+ years for example, should not have to worry about getting a ticket for any RFC match. There is plenty of time and space for the next generations of loyal fans.

Also think it's a little unfair that you only get 5 Loyalty Points for going to an away game, and 10pts for a home game. Obviously I know the club makes more money from home tickets but away games take more commitment to go to.

The system doesn't actually reward loyalty, because that's something intangible and unquantifiable - Instead, it measures financial commitment by rewarding those who put money into the club via home ticket sales.

It's a shame for those fans that attend regularly and travel away ,but don't have a season ticket, but we're all aware of the system and if you're not a STH, you just have to take your chances.

Winchester Royal The system doesn't actually reward loyalty

Indeed. Instead of rewarding loyalty it is nothing but another lever they use to extort cash from us.

There are many things they could do / have done to make the system fairer and reward loyalty, but that clearly isn't the exercise and Reading isn't that kind of club.

Big Foot
SPARTA STH's should always get first dibs on away and cup tickets, but the point system for away games is unnecessary until it's a play-off etc. Even last season we went to general sale for Bournemouth away. There's rarely a scramble for away tickets. Just let fans book them on a first come, first served basis!

Like they used to, resulting in jammed phone lines and a website that constantly crashed & many hundreds of posts/pages on here complaining about the ineptitude of the ticket office

Won't be going to Brentford as it just won't be even 0.0001% as good as 20th April 2002, before half the plastics on here were even aware this town had a Football Club - OUT

Almost my very first Reading away game, (technically 2001 PO final was Neutral ground).
But the game fell on my 9th birthday and I didn't want to spend hours travelling (had no idea where Brentford was), so we listened to it on the radio.

Anyway, on Wednesday I will rightfully take my place at the front of the queue 8) ; my first trip to Griffin Park (only 12 years late).
