Note to those driving:

I got to Old Trafford about 4 hours before kick off for the FA Cup game but did get a free parking space down the side of the cricket ground.

Didn't manage to get in a pub before kick off though as the ones I tried were home fans only.

Where's everyone likely to meet up for a drink?

We'll be going to the Quadrant pub near the cricket ground, went in there when we played in the FA Cup, was a good boozer that has a mix of home and away fans.

I'll probably go into town, and get a tram back to OT from there. Or not bother with the pub, and just have a lie in. Depends how big Saturday night turns out.

No problem getting out of Manchester after the cup game last season.

One option would be to park and ride. The Altrincham tramline is currently undergoing major repairs, but there is a large P&R just outside Eccles, with a direct tram route to OT. Ladywell is just off the M602, here. Instead of leaving the M6 at J19, and driving into town via the A560, stay on until J21A, and use the M62 and then the M602.

Parking is free, and a return on the tram costs £1.90, and it will only take you about 10 minutes to get around to Exchange Quay. You'll also find you'll actually be able to get onto the tram stop towards Eccles after the match, unlike the town side, you'll miss all of the traffic up Trafford Road, and be going onto the motorway one junction further up than most OT traffic.

That would be my recommendation for drivers, anyway.

I had no problem getting out from the league game. We parked in one of the many small businesses car parks, and the car park was locked when it was full and opened up again 15 mins before the end of full time (so I'm told, I was obviously still in the ground then). Only cost £3 too, so excellent value.

Driving is no problem - Park at Salford Quays - its free - 10 minute walk - and your out on the motorway straight away.

And it's also worth saying that they are still available in all three price bands

Last time I parked really close in clipper quay. I was straight out onto the M602 in no time after the game.

Is it me or have the prices been hiked up a lot this season, I can't recall paying this much last season in ManU, and Bolton is at least a fiver more.

Yep, I seem to remember Utd being £31 or £32 last season. Bolton was around £24
