I have contacted a couple of bus companies in the Bracknell area with regard to running some sort of service from Bracknell.

If you were a Bracknell bus user can you contact me. Or if you know people that used the bracknell bus can you provide me with their details.

Thanks

Royal Lady If they know the rough uptake on certain services, can't they just hire smaller buses (or minibuses or something) which would be cheaper?

Sarah Star I assume you've all read this:

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 63,00.html

yes - its the bit where they say they just assume that putting up prices will stop people going, that gets on my nerves

like i said - driving/parking or train/bus costs much more in money and time for most people

id happily pay ~8 quid for the bus, and still be saving th epetrol money and about two hours of my time

Sarah Star havoc, are you a member? If so, you would be updated regularly about what they are doing and what is going on behind the scenes.

I'd save your money, if I were you havoc. I've seen the updates and your view isn't completely off the mark.

On occasions the club do need a strong reminder that without fans there is no club (or business in their terms) and that they would be well advised to take note of and act on some of the concerns/views of fans.

Whilst I recognise the need to maintain some sort of working relationship with the club, it seems to me that there are and have been times when STAR need to grow some male genitalia.

RB, what exactly do you have in mind here?

The club are still looking into the possibility of running the buses and STAR are looking into ways to help those affected including the possibility of getting a refund on STs. Please point out what else you want them to do as it has already been pointed out to them that without fans they do not have a business etc etc and waffling on about that would achieve nothing except a lot of hot air. Believe it or not, they do know that.

+1 to the growing tide of discontent amongst the fans about STAR

here's a good example:

STAR Campaigns STAR reps have just got back from one of our meetings with the Club's Senior Management Board, where this was one of the subjects discussed.
.

posted several hours after the thread was made.

Why aren't STAR even being consulted before decisions like this are made :?: :?:

STAR are now trying to get fans some money back :?: :?: jeezy christ

Seems to me the club can't even be bothered paying them lip service anymore, they make a decision then wheel these plebs in who are so in awe of another new badge and free tea and biscuits they come skipping out ready to parrot whatever bollox the club has fed them.

The discussions with STAR should have started long before the article appeared in the local press. Royal Blue's comment:

is absolutely nailed on.

PieEater
A good point from WCH, I'm not sure how much STAR subside coaches, but if local trips to QPR are £10 then Horseman might be able to do something.

As I understand it STAR effectively budget the coaches across the season. So individual games may make / lose money but the aim is that overall they don;t lose.

Whether people would pay £10 each to get to home games I'm not sure as I doubt it would cost any less to lay on a coach from Reading to Farnborough and back with a 3 hour wait in the middle than it would to run on from Reading to West London.

I think you should stand if you want to tell them how to run things.

+1 to STAR needing to be more hard nosed - but it also applies to the supporters.

Far too many people moaning about the lack of transport, concourse facilities, prices, but still dutifully turning up week in week out with their replica shirts (and fleeces) and queuing for 20 mins at half time to buy overpriced muck.

You can join a supporters club or you can vote with your feet - I think the latter will have a far stronger impact.

^ this is not a denial

LOL @ trotting out the ol' "well you have a go if you think you can do better" excuse STAR usually trot out when people point out their relentless incompetence.

I don't even count myself as a supporter anymore and tbh I'm not sure i could take the excitement of bi-monthly meetings with the Head of Marketings secretary's secretary.

Why not go for it though and then you could give them the benefit of your advice as the time instead of after the event? If you don't feel like a supporter anymore that's quite sad and makes me come over all concerned for you.

I'm a bit confused, there's a pretty regular bus service between Brackers and Reading isn't there?

Also service from Brakkers to Green park via Wokkers and Lower Earley being proposed locally, though may only run weekdays and not evenings, so may not help.
