Probably not the right time to ask but will the club be refunding those who bought Armstrong shirts too? They've known for a while he was ill

Tinrib The clubs decision to settle out of court is nothing to do with cost, or even the wrongs or rights - this is all about PR..

'greed a PR disaster for the club that was only going to get worse by exposing their attitude to customer car. Presumably McGhee sued because the club's attitude to it's customers pissed him off. He was trying it on but being told to oxf*rd off you'll have to sue us probably isn't the best way to handle it.

The "Family club of the year" could of offered some freebies, vouchers, match ticket discounts or hospitality rather than let it get to court to prove they had a point but then settle for more than the shirt was worth.

I'd astounded that the club hasn't fought this, because they'd certainly win. It's quite unlike the Reading FC of old that had principles and stood up for what it believed in.

This has made it onto Yahoo's front page :|

It wouldn't have got this far if Reading weren't so spineless.

A young football fan successfully received a refund for a replica shirt after he sued the football club he supports when they sold his favourite player.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Jon McGhee, aged just 13, took the legal action after Reading sold his favourite player, Gylfi Sigurdsson (pictured), to German side Hoffenheim for an estimated £7 million last August.

Just a couple of months previously, McGhee had spent £42 - money he was given for his birthday - on a Reading shirt with Sigurdsson's name on the back.

When Sigurdsson was promptly sold, his father James visited the club shop in a bid to get a refund for the shirt, but Reading refused.

The pair subsequently took the matter to their local county court in Middlesbrough.

Reading eventually settled the matter out of court, paying £72 to cover a full refund and legal costs.

James McGhee said: "For anybody else in the same position, this just shows it is well worth pursuing."

However, Reading spokesperson Craig Mortimer, explained why the club agreed to settle the case.

"We only settled because the hearing was right up in Middlesbrough," Mortimer said.

"For the time and effort, it was far more logical to settle."

I'm sure it costs more than £30 to make a claim in the small claims court.

Firstly the Club should either have coughed up when he made his complaint or showed some backbone and taken him all the way.

Secondly, he's obviously an awful man and an awful parent. I bet he reads the daily mail and thought it was a breach of his human rights. Definite candidate for involuntary euthanasia should I ever seize power.

On 2nd Feb I said :

Svlad Cjelli He's probably assuming the club will settle quietly out of court as most businesses do with small claims. Reading FC certainly won't do that, and if he thinks they will he doesn't know them, so he'll lose his money - about £40, I think.

So he was right - RFC did cave in to save the hassle of fighting it. Poor, poor show, and what happened to principles?

Saw this in the national papers. :| RFC paid the £70 odd instead of the hassle of going to 'boro. So if a match is cancelled can we now sue the FA/club for rail fare, petrol, day off from work, food, blah de blah.
