Ups and Downs I was inside the stadium last Saturday watching a kids team play and the pitch looked in a terrible state. Like it had been subjected to a month of summer sun without rain, all yellow and patchy. Which was odd considering how it looked at the end of the year and with all the rain we've had.
Perhaps they treat it with something else during the season and didn't bother since the last game as they knew they were getting a new one.
How much does it cost btw?

WoodleyRoyal Does the football club have to conform to the hosepipe ban? I'm assuming that the ban was for domestic use only, not commercial?

They pay for water usage but a corporate company so different pricing and we would have a license.

Ups and Downs Last week? It looked like the sort of pitch you see african kids kicking a dead dog around.

I believe it was either PL & FL or PL & Championship teams exempted - non-league teams certainly couldn't water their pitches

Geekins I think the pitch has some plastic grass stitched in with the real turf.

tomrfcurz We definitely DO NOT have to conform to the hosepipe ban. I remember this being specifically confirmed by the club, believe it was on the official Twitter feed. As mentioned, it is commercial use and the club is exempt from any ban

TheLawnMowerMan I believe that the regular re-turfing also costs a six figure sum of money (such as is happening now) but it will not cost the same as the original pitch as the ground is already prepared.
I think the new turf is laid and stiched in (although I guess the grass could be grown from seed as there is time for this).
For some reason I seem to remember a figure of £125k being quoted for the returf a few years back which was put into the context of the Oirish playing there bringing a lot more cash in than the re-turfing was costing us.
