Man Utd Tickets

by Elliott » 26 Jul 2012 22:02

Hey all, I know I'm thinking way ahead of time... but I'm thinking about how to go about aquiring tickets for the away match in March. I'm guessing I will struggle to get an away ticket as I have hardly any royalty points, so my next and only other option would be to get a ticket in the home "end". Does anyone know if it is possible to simply buy a couple of tickets for a Man Utd match, or would I have to join some silly waiting list/become a member etc?

Buy a ST at Manure, or ...
Cheaper to buy an away ST at RFC I think.

Unless you had an AST last season, you can't get one this season..

I was actually thinking more of a one off game... rather than a ST, us students can't really afford more than a few away matches each season...

I did the same thing in 06/07

I bought a paper ticket off of someone - beware though - most of the home fans have cards.

If a family member (or friend) has a season ticket they would get first dibs before they go on sale to Royalty points non ST holders, So you could ask them to buy you one.

my friend is a student at leeds uni. He goes to the odd home game when hes back, and goes to a couple of away games up north when he can. In the last 3 years i have overtaken him massively on royalty points just because im lucky enough to be able to attend every home game and the odd away game. So does this make me more of a fan than him?!

Man u actually have a fairly large number of match tickets available each game, they normally allocate these by a ballot of members. You can become join as a member at the same time you apply to the reading game ballot which will be a few weeks before the game. My mate and I did this and got tickets for Man Utd v Arsenal the day before City Reading 2 seasons ago. I think the membership was 20 quid and the ticket 36 quid so not unreasonable for that level, and probably less than you'd pay to a tout. Of course this was fa cup so might be different for league this season.

Of course the downsides are you can't guarantee coming our the ballot so you may contribute 20 quid to the evil bastards for nothing... (though I think post Glazer the odds are in your favour) and you will unfortunately receive a man utd memberpack in the post. Needless to say I burnt this.

When's the fixture? Looking forward to the ticket thread!

Last time we were there, opening day of the fateful 07/08 season, I was able to purchase tickets on the day at Old Trafford, as the Reading allocation was not sold out. There were still some empty rows in the stand.

Correct. In the first year in the PL there was massive demand and we could have sold our allocation a couple of times.

So the next season RFC asked for a large allocation and not only was it in mid-August but all of the first-season day-trippers had "been there, done that" with Old Trafford and there were plenty of tickets spare for general sale.

There's an extra 10 loyalty points for the pre season against Palace. My mate is unable to go to it but is going to buy a ticket - it's the difference between 190 and 200 points for him, if you look at some of the release dates 190 points is in the same bracket as 5 points.

It maybe worth your while getting yourself a member card and lending it to a mate who pays for the ticket put on it whilst you reap the loyalty points? It won't help this season though.....

Some of us prefer to watch Reading whoever we're playing, whatever league we're in.
