Shirt & Kit Sponsor

by Divvy » 25 Dec 2012 21:20

Waitrose and Puma contracts are both, I think, up this summer aren't they?

Hopefully Puma will be on their way out.

There were rumours that the club were looking to tie a shirt or kit sponsor to a stadium rebranding contract.

Perhaps after TurkeyGate we can get Bernard Matthews as a sponsor..

I heard from someone from management at Waitrose that a new deal has already been agreed. Not sure how true that is though.

Reason to try to stay in the PL #319: chance to seal a more lucrative kit deal. Oh well...

Go the Real Sociedad route and randomly pick season ticket holders names to put on the front of the shirt

Thats awesome!

Any further info about how this works? Is it completely random for each player for every game, or does someone have the name on a certain players shirt for the remainder of the season?

Yeah but how pissed off would you be if yours was on Ledge's this season... embarrassing!

They have no shirt sponsor this season and to thank long term fans they looked up the season ticket holders that had been going for years and randomly picked 22 names. It was a one off but they have said it went down so well they are considering doing it, or something else similar, again.

Seville had fans faces on the back of their shirts last season!!

I like the Waitrose sponsor.

It also enables hacks to open articles like this one below:

Heston and Delia: one is a name synonymous with experimentation and flair; the other with honest English fare.

Reading sponsored by the supermarket to which both chefs lend their name – are an honest English football team. What they lack is flair and creativity: too much Delia, not enough Heston.

Which reflects the Spanish ownership model - they actually are football "clubs", owned by their members.

wouldn't mind Macron doing the kits next season they already do the kits for Aston Villa , Leeds, Sheff United , West Ham and a few other English clubs and unlike the big brand names like Nike and Addidas ,Macron do have some variety in their kit designs for each club.

Quite happy with Waitrose but for the fact it'll never be a lucrative sponsorship. A bugbear of mine is really ugly logos that ruin the shirt, so for that alone I'm more than happy with them here.

Puma can naff off. Awful shirts, not the best quality either. I'd love Adidas or Nike.

Also very much in favour of stadium renaming to bring in a few extra quid. If it means a decent player on top of the set budget every season then that is more important to me than SJM's name above the door. For me anyway it's only ever called "the football ground" anyway.

Hope we stick with Waitrose.

Any kit manufacturer would be better than Puma, though!
