New sponsor to appear on club shorts

by Divvy » 10 Jul 2013 17:39

ReadingSportsService ‏@ReadingSports 1h
#Readingfc have agreed a new sponsorship deal with The Legend Alliance, and their logo will appear on matchday shorts in the 2013/14 season.

Thoughts on a sponsor appearing on the shorts? Personally I couldn't care less. More money in the coffers, and that's what will ultimately get this club where we all want to be.

Who are they? Um, no I guess I don't care one way or the other. We're certainly focusing on additional sponsorship though, aren't we?! I'm fine with it, why wouldn't you be?

Why are some fans (admittedly on twitter) complaining? Surely if the club can bring some more money in then it's a good thing, and the sponsor is just above the arse, so it really wont hurt anyone!

The deal will see the company’s logo emblazoned on the back of the Royals shorts for the forthcoming season.

Royals Chairman Sir John Madejski said, "This is a really exciting deal and shows just what can be done. It's the first time that we have had a short sponsor in the history of Reading Football Club, and I really appreciate the skill of our departments to take up these opportunities. Congratulations all round, as far as I'm concerned."

Craig Stimpson, Head of Sales & Marketing at The Legend Alliance, added, "We're delighted to have this opportunity to be a prominent sponsor of Reading Football Club for the 2013/14 season.

"We're passionate about our brand and seeing the branding and logo out there on the back of the Reading shorts will really be fantastic."

Legend Alliance specialise in data provision, working with companies at the cutting edge of their industry to help deliver innovative marketing techniques.

The news comes shortly after Formula One team Marussia were also announced as a club partner for the Royals ahead of the recent British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

All the dullards moaning about it will shut up once the extra revenue is used to complete our next signing.

All geared towards FFP.

I'll take the first two, but there's no way at all that I'm joining that Clown College. That billboard had no effect on me at all.

Do do do do do do do do do do...

You know I always assumed the only reason clubs generally only had shirt sponsors was that one sponsor was some sort of rule.

No issues with this at all personally, more income the better.

Why would do we need extra revenue to do that if the Zingarevich family is so rich? First it was for brand exposure and now it's because we need extra revenue.

Because FFP rules mean you can only spend what you generate. Zingarevich has also made clear that he wants the club to run as a business and to be self-financing as an ultimate goal, sponsorships are an important money-making tool for any sports team.

Dullard.

Samuelson also said when the takeover was announced that we will later look at stadium sponsorship as well, and that makes perfect sense with FFP. I don't care what they cal the ground anyway, it's only ever "the football ground" to me.

So the club announce a new sponsor, more money in the coffers for these bigger wages that attract these better players, and the sponsors logo will be hidden when a player has his shirt untucked, and still we have fans moaning? If you want a club that talks a good game but wants to build on a much lower budget, give Reading Town a try. They're under new ownership now.
