Station Bus

by The Royal We » 20 Feb 2014 13:30

I need to get to the station pretty promptly after Saturday's game. What time does the first bus usually leave from alongside B&Q?

Cheers.

As soon as it fills up.... so 10 minutes before the end of the game I imagine, when people start drifting out.

On a serious note, why not ask the driver/his controller when the bus arrives at the ground?

Because I'm booking my train in advance so want to be sure that I can get to the station before 5.15pm.

If I ask the driver on the day it transpires I've got no chance of making it in time then I'm buggered.

Plan B - Walk down to the Basingstoke Road and catch a Reading Buses local service into town (assuming the Green Park/Tescos Warehouse 6a isn't an option.... actually, the 6a might be if it's running as the Tescos warehouse is pretty much next door to the Stadium)
Plan C - Walk into town
Plan D - Taxi
Plan E - Bicycle
Plan F - Get arrested, Get taken to Reading police station and when released walk over to the train station

No, The Tesco bus seems to be tied to shift start/end times so 2.55pm and 9.30pm on a Saturday.

Yeah, problem with this one - he'd be taken to Loddon Valley where the custody suite is now. He could get a 20 or 21 bus from there though...

Sorry, didn't think it was worth starting a new thread but got another bus related question (forgive me, this is probably a really obvious and stupid question but I've never got the bus to the ground before and just wanted to double check something). I'm making my own way to the ground tonight but need to get the bus home...it is possible to buy a single ticket for the Mad Stad to Emmer Green bus after the game, right? I.e. They don't fill to capacity on the way to the game and therefore only allow return ticket holders on the bus? Or they don't have some rule that they don't sell tickets after the game because it's too busy/too hard to control etc?

I'm sure it's an obvious question with a very simple answer, but wanted to double check with the wise old HNA masses just in case, before realising I'd have to find a different way home.

It did once at the end of last season. Chap tried to get on at Arborfield Garrison but the bus went sailing past as it was full with about ten of us standing already. Chap was not best pleased and must have gone back and got into his car. We got to Shinfield and he'd caught up with us. Window down and shouting abuse at the driver, he managed to bump into a couple of other cars! Clearly never occurred to him that the bus was full.

I quite often do the opposite, one way from the town centre to the ground. There must be some fiddle going on because every time the driver pockets the cash.

Is there any timetable for the Football buses (that pick up from the suburbs) for the Burnley game?

No, but someone I know is. There doesn't seem to be any information available by Reading buses yet.
