Port Vale (A)

25 sheets wow  maybe I'm being naive but i was not expecting to be paying 25 quid for an away ticket at a lower-end league 1 side. :|

Combine the game with a weekend stay in Stoke? See the sights.

To be fair, you are only a stones throw from the Peak District if you want to turn it into a nice weekend.

if that's the price of League 1 football then i guess we just have to grin and bare it. but I must admit I wasn't expecting to pay over 20 pounds for a ticket unless we were at one of the bigger teams in the div. What do we think, is this going to be the price for most places?

Average away ticket price for National League is £22 - so sadly is the norm. Even more staggering is the season ticket price for Aldershot Town this season is £360.

In fairness Exeter the next away game after is £20 for terracing. I wouldn’t recommend looking at Bolton’s admission prices announced last week.

£25 to go to a shithole ground in a horrible city. If it wasn't the fact I've not been to their ground I wouldn't be bothering.

Probably just putting prices up because we're making them pay upper west prices.

I hear Stoke will be lovely when it's finished.

You`re not getting anything for less that £20 gentlemen, L1 or not the clubs still have bills to pay.

At least you can see the pitch at Vale Park unlike the struggle at QPR while paying thirty odd quid.

Plenty of clubs will still charge £20. Exeter, Fleetwood are 2 that will.

To be honest, when you factor in the cost of getting to places like Exeter, Fleetwood or Burslem, coupled with the cost of food and (especially!) drink on the trip, the difference between £20 and £25 isn't particularly significant.

Are you in charge of League One ticket pricing this coming season?

The last time I went to Port Vale was May 1979. I wonder if I’ll notice a difference.

Last game of the season?

Was that the 3-0 that confirmed promotion?

In 1946 Vale Park was going to be the "Wembley of the north" but funding ran out and it just got sort of left and what work that was done was all completed on a vastly smaller scale. It's a big old open ground as I remember but gives decent views and rather Vale Park than Loftus Road or half a dozen so called shiny plastic boxes built since the mid-80s.

Yeah, we won the title. I was only 15 and went to the game with my dad and his mates. I remember some their fans wanting to kick off but it’s a bit of a blur these days.

I’m looking forward to going back albeit 45 years later.
