Is the Derby game to be screened?

by Stuka » 28 Apr 2008 13:45

Anyone know if the Derby game is to be screened, perhaps at the Mad House or elsewhere?

It'll be live on Sky I would imagine, as the relegation games always are on the last day. They showed both West Ham/Utd & Sheff U/Wigan games last season

I wouldn't be too sure about that - last year the title race was over before the last game of the season so the battle to avoid 18th place was the next major thing up for grabs. This season, I expect the live games on the final day to be Wigan v Man Utd and Chelsea v Bolton.

'greed, the true ramifications of Saturday's Chelsea win were that the Royals were unlikely to be shown live in the WaLOLkabout on the final day of the season

Although, you'd have thought Sky could have a red button choice of any game wouldn't you?

Hadn't thought about that and I don't see any reason why they can't do that for a selection of the games i.e. Wigan v Man U, Chelsea v Bolton, Derby v Reading and either Pompey v Fulham or Brum v Blackburn (depending on results this weekend).

Forgot about that. Surely they would have one game on each channel and then picture in picture for updates

I can only imagine the lack of a match choice option would be down to the TV deal more than anything as they clearly have the technology from Champions league nights

Does anyone know if it is to late for Setanta sports to show the game? Our game isn't listed to be shown on the setanta website, so got me thinking if Sky decide not to broadcast us, will Setanta take on this match?

More chance of Sky suddenly going for match choice.

Sky have exclusive live rights to the last day of the season

Stuka did you also mean a big screen at the stadium like we had for the Brentford game?

It would be pennies for us to do the same so maybe it's a good suggestion. I seem to remember the chairman huffing at the expense last time around.

They did not realise the demand that there would be i seem to recall, started out opening the North Stand with seats reserved, then the shit hit the fan and they had to make East stand, and was unreserved, did not go to screening, but was there soon after match ended, another great day at RFC.

I even hugged Forbes

But as always they got demand wrong, it is time they realised that there is massive demand for football, and if the level is right then we actually can move to a much higher capacity.

SAcreened matches must be a future in football at the Prem Level, all adds to the coffers, and the games are all being televised so whats the difference anyway?

Given that Sky will cover all the play offs from the Championship down I would hope they would offer live coverage of all the key Premiership games top and bottom. Some of these games will almost be like play off finals for the teams fighting relegation

I did have something like that in mind, yeah. You'd think with such an important game the club would sort out some sort of way for us to watch the match other than on the computer. Collective experience and all that.

Well they show Sky on the screen in the ground, so you could open the lower West and watch it in there

No chance of watching it at the Mad House then:

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your email.

Further to your enquiry, unfortunately we do not have the rights to broadcast the game.

Kind Regards
