Steve Coppell Tribute Book?

by RoyalBlue » 13 May 2009 20:26

I'm sure some on here will think it a stupid idea but how about the club consider the following?

Collect up all of the fans' tributes now being sent into the club via the OS, add some tributes from respected names within the global game of football, some of the great pictures of Steve Coppell that I am sure they must have in their picture library, throw in some classic 'Coppellisms' and publish in a book to go on general sale - all profits (or at least a substantial percentage thereof) to go to the great man's nominated charity.

If not, maybe it's something STAR could take on?

And another thing: If our wonderful politicians can tear themselves away from fiddling their expenses for just a while, could they please get their act together and ensure that it becomes Steve Coppell MBE at the very earliest opportunity!

Failing that, maybe we, the supporters, or STAR could do something?

As for the honesty and integrity of future expense claims, the test is simple: Does it pass the Coppell test? i.e. would he submit such a claim?

Better still, pester the club demanding that a stand be named after him.

No chance - Stand names are for fee paying sponsors only.

BUT, there is nothing stopping SJM from naming the stands still.

Why can't we have the Steve Coppell Fosters South Stand, for example? And so on...

Disagree! That's why I called it Tribute rather than Memorial!

I suspect that the commercial folk would still argue that that would reduce the amount of money that Fosters might be prepared to pay.

For those who clearly undertook their education since Bliar came to power:

Tribute

1. A gift, payment, declaration, or other acknowledgment of gratitude, respect, or admiration: put up a plaque as a tribute to his generosity.

Where does death have to come into that?!!

Suggest you spend a little less time on HNA and broaden your horizons and education by watching/listening some of the news channels. There you will hear numerous references of people paying tribute to others who are still very much alive and kicking!!

It's always really funny when people do that.

Top level political comment.

I saw someone write 'West Ham' as 'Wet Sham' once and that cracked me up too !!

There are some I would like to see cracked up - preferably by a sledge hammer!

True, I shouldn't have bothered with the B and just called him the bare faced liar he proved to be!
