The lamentable south east corner

by Nobby » 10 Feb 2010 21:56

There was once a time when away fans had at least a bit of a challenge from the home fans in the south east corner.

Now our fans in that part of the ground seem to have given up even singing. Barnsley and Plymouth fans sang constantly and the response from our lot was.....silence.

Why do you lot bother to sit there? For the number of you who have any intention of singing you'd be better off in the south west corner where you would be closer together and actually make a decent noise.

Failing that you might as well come down near the drummer. At least we sing down the north east corner.

TBF, and there's an element of devils advocacy here, if you like making a noise and singing at a football match why do you support a family club who play in an out of town modern stadium famous for it's bad acoustics?

I was admiring the wanker signs made by a youngster throughout the game.

On a related note, surround yourself with those singing and it always sounds louder than the rest.

everyone was shit on tuesday and need to take a long hard look at yourselves! was literally the only one bothering to even applaud Vs plymouth
it was fecking painful. not sure its worth berating the one section of the ground that occasionally comes up with a song.

its always bad, but tuesday was really embarrassing.
its certainly not the atmosphere and banter that drew me to RFC, and im not sure it will seem thrilling enough to tempt any new fans

What do you expect from a bunch of pepperoni faced, in-bred, knuckle-dragging neanderthals? I like the quiet atmosphere as it gives me a chance to have a nap and catch up on my essential reading which this week was The Deep Sky: An Introduction.

The acoustics at the madejski are terrific. They just won't be any good if there's only 20 people singig, and they are at the very back of the stand. Besides, how many families do you really see in the stadium? They are a very small minority. The problem is that our fan base, and I'm not excluding myself, tends to need some kind of spark to get going. Oddly, a goal doesn't usually do it, but a bad foul or a sense of injustice over something fires people up.

Think you need to ask Clive Doyle and the stewarding team as to why it's quieter in the SE corner. Wnkers.

^ this

The club have a jekyll and hyde attitude to atmosphere. They say all the right things about "backing the boys" but then fill the ground with families and chuck anyone out so much as farts. And you wonder why there is no atmosphere.

Fill the south-east corner with lads, give them beer and let them stand. Problem solved.
