I've backed the Saudis a little tonight. Russia are in awful nick - the only sides they've beaten in 11 games in the last year are New Zealand and South Korea. Saudi Arabia on the other hand have friendly wins against European opponents (albeit no great shakes) Greece, Moldova and Latvia, a draw with Ukraine, and acquitted themselves well in 2-1 defeats to both Germany and Italy. They've certainly prepared well.

Russia might have enough, but I've layed them at 1.49 on the exchanges. Also a little on a 2-1 Saudi win, at a silly 40/1.
Might go for both teams to score, also a slightly silly, in my view, 9/5.

Got £20 on at 10/1. Saudi Arabia are a better side than people give them credit for, very quick too. The Russian defence is ridiculously aged, they will really struggle with balls over the top.

Surely Russia will raise their game if only for the opening fixture of a home World Cup or will they do like we did (IIRC) in 1966 and produce a dull stalemate of 0-0?
On top goalscorers betting I think it is difficult especially with Brazil likely to share the goals around-maybe Lukaku to get a few against the minnows in our group and give him a flying start?

I have backed Brazil outright but feel my best bet at e/s is Germany to score more than 9.5 goals on the basis that they are likely to go far in the tournament and have more games than most.
Might do a bet on Ali to be England's top scorer on the basis that Kane will be tightly marked as the perceived danger man and that Stirling misses too many.
