Who would you like to see replace Gareth Southgate?

by SouthDownsRoyal » 15 Jul 2024 23:54

GS has done a good job galvanising the team, making them more relatable to the England fans and media, getting us to two Euros finals and a WC semi final but it’s pretty clear he won’t remain as England manager

Who would you like to see replace Gareth Southgate?

Plenty calling for Klopp. Great, but surely a pipe dream.

Out of the realistic candidates, it's Howe for me.

Klopp, if Klopp doesn’t take the Germany job, or the Reading job when the new owners get rid of Selles.

Some statement from Southgate. Welling up. He's given us some incredible moments over the last few tournaments but he's fallen short tactically and kept the faith with systems or players he perhaps shouldn't have (especially in this tournament). It's a tough job.

Impossible some might say. What's expected of the new man, whoever he is? A World Cup win? A tall order even for someone like Klopp

With our squad and off the back of two euros finals, big pressure, anything other than winning w WC or Euros is failure

Lets be honest, Graham Potter must be a shoe-in for the job.

Don`t see the obsession with it having to be an English manager with some commentators, Potter, Howe and Carsley are the only names being banded around, none of them jump off the page for me.
I would take Klopp.

The FA have said previously that a succession plan is in place

So who would that mean?

Not Steve Holland surely

Defo me. I'm still not over Cole Palmer equalising and us conceding shortly after. Following England in a major tournament is one hell of an emotional ride.

Indeed...my first decade of watching England was the 1970's when we barely even qualified for anything.....
