As has been said, Messi wasn't even Argentina's best player, let alone the tournament's. Ludicrous decision.

Best team won. Argentina gave them a good game though. Had Messi actually travelled to this world cup rather than controlled a clone with his playstation Argentina probably would have won it. The Germans were pretty comfortable all tournament, despite having a lot of injury and sickness worries to contend with. Delighted for them, they've thoroughly deserved that from their performances over the last few years.

So pleased Klose can add a winners medal to his record. Scweinsteiger's deserved that too, he's a superb midfielder. And Loew's been a great manager for them.

Massive at anyone still slating Messi. Player of the tournament? Absolutely not - Robben for me - but he pulled a very mediocre Argentina team through their first 4 games despite having a dedicated player man-marking him throughout. Definitely the best player post-1980s (in b4 Zidane/fat Ronaldo/Kebe).

Fair play to Germany, would have been wholly unfair for this team not to win a trophy, and this tournament in particular. Fully deserved and I look forward to seeing how their younger stars develop and dominate over the next few years.
