Don't know if you're really interested, however when the d in Brazilian Portuguese is followed by an a, e or i, in the most common form of the Brazilian accent they tend to soften it sound like our g.
As to why they do this, I can only guess, however it is probably to try and differentiate themselves from the Portuguese from Portugal, which sounds like an asthmatic dog choking to death on an asthmatic cat.

TBM Gerrard injured in training
BBC However, there seems to be no doubt about his availability for Saturday's World Cup opener against Italy.

Royalclapper Group B is looking more and more fascinating as the World Cup approaches, certainly as an alternative to the England discussions.
Spain
Holland
Chile
Australia
Chile's shit-or-bust attitude is going to force some issues here I reckon. If they manage to get through the group it's obviously going to mean a big name casualty goes home early.
The Dutch do look well shy of some of their previously better squads. A Holland win over Spain though and the unthinkable is on regarding Spain going out in the group stages, Chile could of course implode but they looked a decent outfit when they turned us over at Wembley. The Aussies are surely only there for the lolz once they'd seen the draw.

2 Spanish friends both said that they are going to be pretty much reliant on Pedro having a great world cup otherwise they will not do well. Apparently there is quite a pessimistic feeling in Spain
