AthleticoSpizz That’s a little bit surprising.

The Dutch team have consistently been one of the best supported during the tournament that, coupled with the less-than-successful mens team (of recent years) and the liberal and accepting attitudes of the Dutch folk, I would have thought that it would be front page news there.

I viewi these games with a bit of stand-offish interest, and as already said......any football is better than no football. C’mon the orange!

No doubt there will be jubiliation if they should win it but there's not been the packed bars and orange decorations that would accompany the Men's competition.

Dutch keeper having a blinder.
A fabulous turn and left-foot shot by Morgan-USA do, from afar, look like a men's team with their skill and movement.

Yeah Tulip, tbf, I guess if England were to have made the finals, it would’ve been somewhat muted here too in comparison to the mens game (despite the beebs best efforts to make it otherwise).

WOW

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS

THAT WAS NEVER EVER A PENALTY IN A MILLION YEARS!!!!!

Pfuck VAR.

She was looking at the ball the whole time. She went to clear a ball that was in the air. The player came from the blindside and chested the ball away BEFORE the dutch player hit her... which she couldn't NOT do because her foot was in the air.

This entire world cup has been an advert for why VAR should not be in the game.

Libertine
AthleticoSpizz 1-0 win to the lionesses

Nothing too much for the WC winners elect, the USA to worry about here

There are questions about how the US's back line will hold up when they come up against real competition. I wouldn't anoint them anything, never mind champions, quite yet.

BR0B0T I would like to see a mens team vs English ladies team in a reasonably competitive game

i.e. Billy Jean King, battle of the sexes

should have checked before posting...

The US ladies team got beat 5-2 by Dallas FC under 15 boys team

They got the job done. Damn proud of them. World Champions again/still! 8)

I don't know which team is scarier in terms of dominance the US Women's National Soccer team or the US Women's National Basketball team (many of whom I am quite familiar with having played their college ball at the University of Connecticut). One thing I am sure of the US has some of the most athletically gifted women in the world.

Even though it benefitted the US in the last 2 games I have to agree I am not a fan of VAR in the least... :|

Jeez what has happened to England ladies. They are shocking. Like they have never played together before......They keeper doesn't look great either. What a fall from grace after the last World Cup.

Just had to comment on the England victory against Latvia last night, in their World Cup Qualifier.

20-0

64 shots to 0

31 shots on target

86% possession.

To be honest, that is an embarassment for the Women's game (Norway were winning 13-0 away in Armenia before the weather caused an abandonment as well).

For the Women's game to progress, they should look at having a mini tournament of the minnows, with the top 2 or 4 going into the main qualifying competition proper, similar to the Men's T20 World Cup a couple of months ago.

Early in the game seeing a few of the Latvians 'quality' was slightly amusing.
By the 20th minute it was embarrassing
By the time the Latvian keeper miskicked directly up in the air for another it was extremely cringeworthy

At least no own goals
