Media tricking us?

Suarez, 27, is said to have undergone an MRI scan on Wednesday night which confirmed he needed surgery on a knee issue which had aggravated him during a training session with Uruguay.

Still likely he'll be back fit in time apparently.

Torres had a similar injury a few years ago and was back playing 7 weeks after surgery.

Apparently it also confirmed that he had no spine whatsoever and was a massive cúnt.

Absolutely.

Germany v Italy was one of the most engrossing WC games I have ever seen.

Cannavaro charging out of defence like a maniac at 1-0, winning the ball, three passes later and Del Piero sticks it in the back of the net. Amazing game.

Same here m8. I am genuinely excited which i didn't think I would be after the poor 2010.

It's not even about England this time - although i'll be hoping for an upset - but the competition as a whole. Three matches a day FTMFW

Video has a long shot of the shift Del Piero puts in to get to the pass.

I'm even starting to believe in Englan a tiny bit more than I was, thankfully I'll be hammered when that chicken comes home to roost

Watched this tonnes of times in the past, can you imagine how mental the pub would go if this happened to England?

There's a great angle of Grosso's goal from a documentary on YouTube too. I'm not digging it out but if you're interested try searching Grosso special angle or something. You can see the ball bend right around Lehmann.

Oh and Pirlo's perfectly weighted no-look pass.

Apparently the Italians have been doing some exercises in a sauna (ooh er) in preparation for the intensity of the heat and humidity at the exotically named Arena Amazonia in Manaus against England.

I reckon Prandelli must be tapping his fingers on the desk wondering whether to go all out against England or settle for not losing. They do have some interesting competition for strikers places, Balotelli & Cassano are both nutters, can't see Rossi being in from the start but the Serie A leading goalscorer Ciro Immobile from Torino might push them hard.

There are stories about that the stadium in Sao Paulo is not going to be fully ready in time for the first game and even beyond that. Part of the roof might not be finished off and FIFA have put back the date for a second test game there.

From the bbc http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/world-cup/27513764

Hodgson was in charge of Switzerland at the 1994 World Cup and prepared his players for the heat of the United States by using a sauna.
"Compare that to what we are doing now and it was an unbelievably amateurish performance," the 66-year-old said.

Not really.
Co-owned by Juve, Serie B top scorer 2 seasons ago.
14 caps, 10 goals for the U21s.

Him, Manolo Gabbiadini and Mattia Destro have been Italy's most promising young strikers for the last few years.
After Balotelli of course.
