Libertine Disappointed in England, and disappointed for the fans. Too much talent to be underperforming like this WC after WC after WC.

But, and there are a lot of "ifs" to this, if Italy beats Costa Rica and then Uruguay, and if England can beat Costa Rica by a large enough margin England is still through. Sure it is a long shot and most of it is out of England's hands but now is the time to become hardcore Italy supporters because if they win their 2 remaining games England is still has a chance.

Excellent, it can be like the last day of the season all over again........

Joy.

Woeful. Everything that was good about the Italy game was completely absent from that performance. No tempo, no movement, no precision. We got exactly what we deserved.

Italy will beat Costa Rica - and we could well beat them too, but I think they will (and be happy to) draw with Uruguay.

Yep. Pretty much dump your savings into a bet on that game ending in a draw.

Not that it matters, and Costa Rica will probably beat England anyway. They just want it more.

AthleticoSpizz ..again, we are where we are...and, of course, there are reasons for it

Shit grass roots coaching

Have to agree. My youngest has qualified as a coach (BSc/MSc/UEFA B etc), and cannot get a job for love nor money in the English game. Unless you are an ex-player, (with no formal qualifications of course!), you can forget it.

He's had a stint in USA where they thought he was out of this world, and his team improved immeasurably in 6 months.

He hopes to go back as a DoF next Feb on a 3 yr contract. If he keeps his head down, they say MLS will come calling. Good luck to him. USA will be far ahead of England internationally within 10 years. Nailed on.

England is going backwards even faster than Scotland and Wales. Not nice to be saying this, but it is the sad reality.

My eldest left football after 2 years as 1st team sports scientist at a Championship club that got to (and stayed in) the PL couple of years back. Again, conditions, pay and value were total shite. His efforts were totally ignored. He left to come back down south as an independent SS working for a number of serious gyms, and he hasn't looked back. Earning shed loads, speaking at seminars etc, published professional journals, etc etc. Got to say "professional" football in this country is so far behind other sports it's scary.

The England national team is no more than a reflection of the national league. The powers that be need to realise just how far we have sunk. Unless they do, we are going to be perennial WC/EC first round losers every year, should we even qualify!!

Sad day.

Avon Royal Gerrard is an utter bellend.

The press and Liverpool have covered for Gerrard for years disguising the fact that for most games he's a passenger. The odd wonder strike and a lot of crap the rest

That is 100% spot on.

Gerrard airbrushed out of the second Suarez goal..

Hart was poor for their 2nd goal.

Went down too early and flinched as the ball whizzed past his head. If he'd been braver he'd have stayed upright and taken it in the kisser or on the chest.

Over-rated.

Nah, all they need to do is redesign the star over the badge to be like this
