bobby1413 Did you see the bit at the very end of the England Game between Pablo Zabaleta and Phil Neville?
Basically, Gary Linekar said: "Pablo, you're going to tell us about a drink from Argentina?"
He had a flask and cup full of the hot drink which was leaves, herbs and boiling water. Said that it was a big part of Argentinian culture and they have it whilst socialising. It cut to pictures of Suarez and a couple other Argentinian players drinking it as they stepped off the team bus - really just to show how popular the drink was.
Also, he said that a massive amount of it had been shipped over for everyone (fans and players/staff) as it was really important.
... cue the drink being passed to Phil Neville who has a drink, says "that's disgusting... it's just hot water" and hands it back.
Gary Linekar apologises for the comment and Pablo Zabaleta takes his cup back.
Cringeworthy and rude

CountryRoyal It’s called mate/yerba mate. It’s an unusual taste, it’s nicer if you put honey in it. Im not a massive fan but it’s part of someone’s culture and to to make a comment like Neville did is disrespectful and ignorant. You’d think being fortunate enough to have a career that affords him the luxury of being able to experience new countries and cultures he wouldn’t be such a narrow-minded twat.
No wonder people hate the English.

Precisely, it was stupidly ignorant, rude and just against general manners. If someone is taking the time to tell you something about their culture which is significant and important to them, then you politely accept and have something positive to say, even if it's "wow, that is really unusual, thanks for letting me try that".
Not "That's disgusting".
Like you, I also thought, how can someone who has travelled the world, has multiple millions of pounds be so fcking stupid and ignorant. Guess money doesn't buy class or manners.

Snowflake Royal I don't understand Phil Neville. He was a shit defender. He was shit for England. He's thick. He's a terrible pundit / commentator. He's dropped a number of social clangers, and yet he's manager of England's women's team and seems a regular in the media.
