Quality final ball for Suarez's goal. England need that sort of quality delivery.

I can't remember, was it him that gave it away, or Stirling trying to turn three men at once?

We've only threatened from set-pieces. The link between the mid-field and the forwards hasn't gelled, Sturridge seems to think he's Pele and the defence has been a shambles.

AND it's quarter to 4 in the bloody morning!

I'm sure there are English players capable of that but for some reason Gerrard/Lampard types etc will always get picked first. Carrick for starters has never been given that chance imo. The best British player for that role (and no biased on my part because of his nationality) is Aaron Ramsay. He would be immense for England but I bet he'd never get a look in, or played totally out of position.

I think he was definitely weak through the middle once they'd got the ball. Almost statuesque.

So, if we lose this I take it we're blaming the ref for not sending off Godin and lamenting the woodwork from Rooney's header?

59% of possession, according to the stats. That must be due to all the time and touches it takes to pass the ball back to Joe Hart to have him hack it a quarter of the way up the pitch whilst falling on his arse cos it certainly hasn't been quality possession near the Uruguayan goal.

Avon Royal England have been completely shit.

Yep.

All Uruguay are doing is pressuring the guy on ball, and we don't know what to do. It'd be scary to see a count of the number of times we've either been caught in possession and misplaced a pass because someone was being shut down.

Apparently Gerrard and Lampard "motivated" the team by telling them how terrible it'll be if they go out early. For a team that normally play with all the assurance of a small child carrying a tray of drinks, that's really helpful.

to be fair, Uruguay have also hacked us down every time we've got a promising break.

Got to get Sterling in the game. As per the latter stages of the Italy game, he just doesn't influence matters wide on the right. Take off Henderson, get on Lallana and have a fluid front 5 with Sterling behing Sturridge. Or stick on Lambert and lump it at them ye olde-England style.
