Just a few hours left now. Italian media outlet tweeting that Buffon is out, still unconfirmed though.

Can see this being a 0-0 or 1-0 to Italy; a draw will be a great result for England.

Is this the day when England's new young squad comes of age and fills us all with optimism?

Or is this another day where we flop on the big stage?

My instinct (and experience and knowledge) tell me the latter but I had a dream last night which featured a 4-1 win for England tonight, and it's turned my head a bit I have to say!

Come on England!!!

What's the problem with that, I'd take a 30min blinder from him.

I predict both squads take injuries due to playing surface, match abandoned. World cup in shambles.

This is based on the number of Beers I have drunk.

World Cup has been awesome so far. So here comes England like some embarrassing old slag on a night out, well past it these days but still convinced of a long since lost ability to pull. Luckily England will be asleep in a taxi by the time the group stages have finished.

Just cleared up from having folk over for a BBQ. Am on the battered side of tipsy, so my chances of actually watching the whole match are nil. Nit even sure i"ll be awake for the start.

reckon i wont miss anything worth watching so that's all good.

Not sure I'll be able to stay awake for this either. Midnight start here. If I stay up i'll probably wish I hadn't bothered.

Apparently Sterling is starting, with Lallana on the bench. Interesting.
