So the question is, are QPR a rich mans plaything, bought for the son in-law for something to do, or, are the new owners serious about investing heavily in the club, ground & team?

NO IMMEDIATE BONANZA FOR SUPER HOOPS – 13/1/08

Although the club has been active in the transfer market, there will no be no immediate bonanza for Queen's Park Rangers fans from the involvement of Britain's richest resident Lakshi Mittal. He is worth an estimated £19.25bn, but he spent only £200,000 on acquiring his 20 per cent stake in the club. He seems to have made the investment to please his son-in-law, Amit Bhatia, who is keen on fooball and will take a seat on the QPR board. The new owners have so far made no attempt to pay off a £10m loan to the ABC Corporation which carries a punitive £1m annual interest charge, a massive burden on a club with a turnover in the £10m-£15m a year range. Another £2m is owed to former director and major shareholder Antonio Caliendo. Despite talk of a property plan which would see the new owners sell Loftus Road for redevelopment and move to a new ground, perhaps on a BBC-owned site at White City, there appear to be no immediate plans. The strategy appears to be build the club up slowly ahead of funding a major push for the Premiership next season. As yet, QPR does not rival another West London team, Chelsea, as a benefactor club.

LOL

The Daily Mail The billionaires of Queens Park Rangers are close to completing the extraordinary signing of former Real Madrid star Luis Figo.

QPR owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal believe the 35-year-old former world player of the year can spearhead a return to the Premier League next season under the management of Italian Luigi De Canio.

Talks between Rangers and Figo's representatives have been taking place over the past few weeks and only minor details need to be cleared up before the Portuguese midfielder makes the switch from Inter Milan when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Figo, who left Real Madrid in 2006, has made 18 appearances for Inter this season and was on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad last summer before pulling out of the deal.

He kicked off the era of the galacticos at Real Madrid when he joined in a hugely controversial £35 million deal from hated rivals Barcelona in 2000, which enabled Florentino Perez to be elected as club president and sign Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham in subsequent seasons. He was the 2000 European Footballer of the Year and voted FIFA World Player of the Year in 2001.

Formula One supremo Ecclestone and Renault team owner Briatore have already transformed the west London club with more than £2m of spending in the January transfer window, which has seen the club climb out of the relegation zone in the Championship and make an unlikely push for a play-off

I didn't go to the game in the end - went on a little pub crawl around the Bush and watched the rugby instead.

A good win for Rangers though.

Tredder I'll get the train with you if you want.

Nice to see you've jumped to the better side of West London, we also beat Barnsley at home and kept a clean sheet there as well.

As for the play offs, no thanks, defensively we'd be ridiculed.

Surely with all your new money you'd go and buy a whole new defense?

Queens Park Rangers have unveiled Italian firm Lotto Sport Italia as the club's new kit sponsor in a £20million deal — one of the most lucrative in Championship football history.

Chairman Flavio Briatore, who took control of QPR last November, said: "This is the first significant new partnership for the club since I became involved and I am very excited about it.

"Lotto Sport Italia are the perfect fit as our new kit supplier. I am certain that their involvement will benefit us on and off the pitch.

"I am delighted with the design of the new team strip, which maintains the QPR tradition of blue and white hoops. I know how important it is to the fans that the hoops remain."

Next seasons kit will be modelled by Naomi Campbell tomorrow
