'Fan died' after football derby

A football fan is believed to have died after being hit by a car in the Aston area of Birmingham.

It happened after Sunday's Premier League match between Aston Villa and Birmingham City at Villa Park, which the home side won 5-1.

It is not yet clear if rival supporters were involved in the incident in Aston Hall Road.

Police officers were at the scene on Sunday evening. The area was taped off and a white tent erected.

feel sorry for the family that kissed him goodbye on his own doorstep

Seems like a sad accident, hopefully it was just that. Can't imagine it was a deliberate hit and run.

I genuinely hope that the man being charged with murder is just guilty of being involved in a tragic, sad accident.

I really doubt it though.

Good to see the Sun has learnt from past mistakes and is already painting this as a rage fuelled hooligan related murder

The BBC

West Midlands Police said the arrested man is also an Aston Villa fan.

Will this rag never learn? They've ended their article on this with comments about "clashes between rival fans" which is completely irrelevant in the context of this story.

Utter, utter trash.

After a few years of quiet, it's a good opportunity to wheel out the "football fans will murder us in our beds" stories. No doubt we'll get a chance to see a few more in the event of a Man U v Liverpool champions league final in Moscow.
