Victor Meldrew
Ideal Very ambitious signing by Liverpool, clearly the other top teams will be shaken up by this massive signing

Yep,a bit like Chelsea signing Ross Turnbull.

Except you know Chelsea would pay the money if the right player was avaliable. Which was the main reason Terry stayed, except for his unwaving loyality to the Chelsea cause as well!!

Liverpool won't win anything until Hicks and Gillett sell.

Isaac Hunt Jonathan Greening goes to Fulham on a season long loan.

Don't quite understand this one. He's in the last year of his contract - the Baggies have turned down 2 offers already - he hands in a transfer request - then he goes on loan.

What is stopping him from playing this season for Fulham then joining them for nothing in the summer? Do you think there is some kind of agreement in place for a fee to be agreed as the season progresses? I guess WBA can recall him from the loan should they see fit. Just strikes me as an odd deal.

A lot of loans cost a fee now, so I can only assume WBA have made money this way, but it still begs the question why didn't they just sell?

Perhaps he wants to play in the PL, and has a release clause if WBA go down. But if he doesn't particularly want to leave WBA this may be a way to keep him playing in the PL until they go back up.

Yes, but he's in the last year of his WBA contract. So when his loan at Fulham ends, he'll be a free transfer.
He has effectivly left WBA now. Unless a new contract was agreed next summer, perhaps.

If West Brom go up then he'll sign a new contract - if West Brom dont go up, he'll go to Fulham

Simple!

Not simple. He'll be 31 then, not exactly young. If his loan doesn't go well, neither may want him.

Lescott deal almost done. Having a medical now (Sun 23rd).

12.15: It seems that Aruna Dindane will become Portsmouth's first cash signing of the summer - the striker joining from Lens for £4m.

Curiously, reports suggest that the money will be underwritten by the Premier League 'as a loan against future television earnings'.

Times has to do a small retraction on this comment today, a league source tells them that this scenario is inaccurate apparently

This was also in the tabloids today. I can't believe that's allowed in all honesty.

Everton sign Diniyar Bilyaletdinov from Lokomotiv Moscow for £10M.
Also close to completing a loan deal for Ever Banega.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Portsmouth start next season at least ten points adrift of the rest of the Championship.

Have to say fair play Sol Campbell, he is probably on very decent wages there and has managed to blag 5 years worth of it at his age!

Still a good signing for Notts County who should win the league by an absolute country mile.

£40k a week

He's going to be hard pushed to get in the team," "It doesn't matter who it is, whether you've played a lot of internationals. If we've got people playing well, it's decision time."
