Tails

Ginger Ninjas Probably missing something, but isn't that graphic our of date? If United sold Ronaldo for £80M, then surely the net spend would be £60.5M at most...

How did you work that out? :|

Total Spending = £140.5M

Sale of Ronaldo = £80M

Net Spending (just taking into account the sale of CR) = £140.5M - £80M = £60.5M

Unless the £80 was the full sum Utd would receive should after all the clauses were ticked - i swear i read somewhere is was a deal worth up to £80m but was more £40m they have actually paid Utd so far.

Thanks, that was what i was trying to point out. I've no idea about the financial implications of the Ronaldo deal.

The other reason i wondered whether it was out of date, was that it looks like Anfield in the background, and so assuming it wasn't from this weekend's football coverage...

Figures are from Soccerbase, so apologies if the source is unreliable. I've also only included transfers that commanded an actual fee (no freebies etc)

Players out
Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid £ 80000000 01-07-2009
Fraizer Campbell Sunderland £ 3500000 11-07-2009

£83500000

Kieran Richardson Sunderland £ 5500000 16-07-2007
Alan Smith Newcastle £ 6000000 03-08-2007
Ryan Shawcross Stoke £ 1000000 17-01-2008
Phil Bardsley Sunderland £ 2000000 22-01-2008
Gerard Pique Barcelona £ 5000000

£19500000

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake Plymouth £ 200000 14-07-2006
Ruud van Nistelrooy Real Madrid £ 11000000 28-07-2006
David Jones Derby £ 1000000 04-01-2007
Tim Howard Everton £ 3000000 14-02-2007

£15200000

Phil Neville Everton £ 3500000 04-08-2005
Kleberson Besiktas £ 2500000 08-08-2005
Jonathan Spector West Ham £ 500000 15-06-2006

£6500000

Nicky Butt Newcastle £ 2500000 29-07-2004
Eric Djemba-Djemba Aston Villa £ 1350000 31-01-2005

£3850000

Total income (not including CR tranfser)

= £48550000

Net Spending (not including CR tranfser)

= £91.95M

So, I’m not sure why that doesn’t correlate to the figure re: Sky image….. Even assuming the figure of CR's transfer isnt £80m (yet) the difference with Soccerbase and Sky seem to indicate he went for around £10m - which clearly isnt the case.

The thing soccerbase doesn't do is give you the fee for players that were undisclosed....it just says "signed"

I tried that method tails but gave up when i figured i couldn't put a price to ALL their signings and sellings :D
