exileinleeds Portsmouth now claiming their transfer embargo is now lifted- so they can now buy players. Obviously clubs will be more than willing to do credit deals with them.

Apparently it has been partially lifted allowing them to bring in loan players or players on a free. Which basically means it is just down to the players whether they want to risk not being paid.

I don't know when Pompey's Insolvency hearing is, but if it was before their cup game with Saints and they were made insolvent and had to close down, would Saints get a bye into the next round?

I would have thought so. What other option is there?

Doing the draw again would be fun!! Rather draw Saints though and rekindle our love affair with AP and Murts than get a bye!

Not sure the second option is viable either as their previous opponents were beaten before their (hypothetical) demise.

Mr Angry The hope of survival means that, despite it being the only immediate and obvious short term solution, they will fight tooth and nail to avoid going into administration and taking the 9 point penalty as a result.

It will beinteresting to know if the PL has a similar rule that states that after a certain period of time into a season, a team going into administration will have the points deduction carried forward into the next season if they would have been relegated without that points deduction in thr current season...

I've been wondering about this as well. If there is such a rule and they get a deferred deduction, and then get relegated, would they then get the full 10pts deduction that the FL impose, or would it just be the 8pts (I thought it was 8pts, not 9) from the PL?
