Trust me he aint going to be there long, i have a mate ex Director who is still partially involved with the club, and the biggest problem there is to much involvement with the team from the Directors, i cant see this going to well from SSC's point of view

I was horrible seeing him in that red tie with the brizzle badge behind him. As well as BM has done I would have SSC back tomorow.

I wouldn't. His time came to move on as things had gone stale......

I wish SC no ill but remain delighted I no longer have to watch him and his favourites driving us into the dirt.

Always nice to have Woodcote putting a smile on our faces !!

And they say music hall is dead !!

Seeing as you appeared to be having an orgasm recently when you felt that I was "in your net" perhaps you would like to clarify which category this latest offering falls into, serious, fishing or just the basic and very typical irrelevant.

The (slightly) more interesting question is who would SC take to Brizzol with him.

He's already getting an assitant in Millen, so I wonder who else will be there with him? Ingi is a definite probable, but only his age counting against him (maybe a coaching role as well?).

Who else? The only other Coppell signings are Kebe, Tabb, Marek, Cisse and Long. He brought through (well, at least knows about them!) Siggy, Church, Feds, Pearce, Karacan and Henry. Would any of them go, would we be happy to see any of them go?

Or will he go for other "old timers" eg Sonks, Kits, USA, Little, Harper etc etc?

i dont understand this, things move on, great memorys, shocking last 18 months and ran out of steam at this club.
I love him. I loved him before he joined us. I can't love him so much if he's managing a rival side. I rue the day Schards forbid me to hug SC and tell him I love him.

The only Reading players who will go to BC will be the ones we are happy to see leave (or get a stupid fee for).

tbf the majority of the squad if from the BR/BMc era, so will have no loyalty to Coppell.

Can def see Ivar going though, and perhaps Cisse.

Muskrat I was surprised and a bit disappointed when I heard that Coppell was going to Bristol City but when I thought about it, it's probably their averageness that attracted him there. Apart from their fans with their over inflated sense of self importance, they'll probably be content to let him develop the squad over a couple of years like he did with us, with not huge funds to work with and I think he'll like that.

Fans will naturally see him as an instant panacea but that is a common trait amongst all fans.

Look at us before our 106 season - decent Championship club finishing 7th on 70 points and the previous seaon 9th on 70 points, Bit like Brizzle now...

A bit like us NOW then?

Yeah very much like us now but he clearly wasn't coming back here so he's accepted an offer from a similar size club in the same division. I do fear however that his recent record and in particuar the 2005/6 and 2006/7 seasons will lead to unrealistic expectations from their fans..

This is the team forum, in case you hadn't noticed. Coppell is no longer at Reading and Bristol City is a different team.

F*ck's sake, we've already had multiple threads on this topic!

BR2 That's a pretty good spin ST at this time of political debate being to the fore.
Perhaps we should have half-seasons rather than full ones to establish promotion and relegation?
On the first part of this season we would have been relegated and for the second we would have been promoted.
Would we have to select one or the other before the season starts?

It's not spin.

We've been a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team for ages.

And you need to check your understanding of promotion and relegation as third place isn't a promotion place.

I see you've forgotten your point that we're a bit like Bristol City. Because we're not really.

I think we are a bit like Bristol City in that currently are a mid-table Championship side that has had a short spell at the top level and never won an FA Cup or a League cup.
Their potential is probably greater than ours because of population but we appear to be currently in a stronger financial position.
BTW I thought we were the 2nd best team on form during the second half of the season and as such would have got promoted.
Who has done better than Newcastle and us in this second half?
