havoc are they using the goalmouth officials - like in the UEFA Cup - during the WC :?: :?:

They are genuinely having one rooftop official for some of the games. It is all unofficial (they don't get to assist in any incidents) but they are trialing it to see if it could be implemented in other tournaments.

Genuinely, it'll be Vuvuzelas - the horns that South African supporters use to make lots of meaningless noise throughout games.

You either love em or hate em - and about 80% hate 'em, but they'll be th most discussed part of this WC and it's biggest legacy.

Haven't they been talked up enough already? For things that will definitely cause beef, because they already are, you can't go much further than the ball. I'm guessing adidas don't have any goalies on their books because it seems that everyone of them don't like it

The final will be interupted by the naked ghost of Eugene TerreBlanc prancing across the pitch singing "Nkiosi Sikelei Afrika"

There will be new levels of diving and feigning injury along with more ridiculous sendings off causing someone to lose their cool and start windmilling into the ref.

I've also got a feeling there'll be a refing bribe scandal, that doesn't involve Spanish officials.

A prominent English footballer will fail an internally conducted drugs test and be sent home under the guise of injury.

Something gay - a leading player will score a goal and dedicate it to his boyfriend. Messi or Ronaldo or Torres.

I think the terrorist one is a good shout. England v USA surely has to be the prime target.*

*I don't actually want this to happen, of course.

The awful standard of refereeing in general.

Just a few examples from the recentish past:

Rivaldo's extravaganza - it was the match ball FFS, so why wasn't the ref or linesman watching it?
Brazilian penalty saved, but rebound knocked in by another player who had been standing two yards behind the taker - I know encroachment is a difficult one to monitor, but this?
Poll's three-card trick.
Australia losing 1-0 to Japan, Japanese player scythed to the ground in Australia's penalty area. Cast iron penalty to give the Japanese a possible 2-0 lead, but no penalty given, Australia go up the other end and equalise.
etc etc

Then there were the famous old-time ones like Maradona's Hand of God and Schumacher's (unpunished) assault on Battiston.

With such a history of incompetence there are just going to have to be some hilarious/tragic (depending on who you suport) refereeing boo-boos.

Al Qaeda members to use their cunning at the USA v England match. They'll disguise themselves by painting the flag of St George on their faces, bring an English flag and drape it round them, go and sit next to the Sheffield Wednesday band & then fool everyone by blowing themselves up. Brass instruments flying everywhere.

With comedy tuba noises in the instant replay and a cymbol spinning in the silence of the devastation.

I see the Scots authorities are making moves to ban the things from games north of the border! Probably smart move after all we'd all rather hear the sectarian crap that comes from the mouths of Celtic & Rangers supporters
