Quite clearly Putin had bribed the voting panel. The was a former British Diplomat last night saying that it is well known that corruption goes to the very top in Russia!

soggy biscuit
Alan Partridge Apart from the country itself being completely unsuitable to play football in?

They are having to build all the stadiums especially so they can host this event. Playing football in the middle of the day in Qatar is absolutely insane.

?

So what if they are having to build the stadiums. As long as they are done on time and suitable what does it matter?

Stadiums will be air conned too so the weather won't be a problem.

Stadiums will be air conned because football can't be played in natural conditions. It's utter madness. Acountry with a population of 600,000 who have contributed as much to football as the Isle of Man has to tennis. There is absolutely no reason to give them a World Cup. What was thier pitch like? We have no grounds, no history, the completely wrong climate for the game but we'll give you a nice holiday and at the end of the day our part of the World hasn't had this yet. Literally any country that's never hosted the World Cup should just apply now because they'll be a certainty.

Very disappointed England didn't win theirs, everything is right here right now to host the thing tomorrow nevermind in 8 years time. Would have been a great event and something to remember but not to be and was never likely to be with FIFA. How could England possibly have been 4th choice when they are the most equipped to host the tournament if the decision is on footballing grounds? Of which it clearly isn't.

Qatar smells more of a fix than Russia tbh. 2018 seemed to be too close to call until the Panorama programme.

Anyway, what all this demonstrates is that the world should just nominate one country to host every World Cup henceforth. That country would have to be football-loving, modern, transparent and stable, as well as easy to travel to and around. Germany 2026 here we come!

That's fine for the stadiums but what about the training grounds?

How will the 'world cup party' and all those fan parks etc cope in that kind of heat. Lets hope the Irish and Jocks don't qualify, all those pale skinned gingers will fry!

Joke. Summer world cup in QATAR in 2022, they're expecting a decent tournament in temperatures approaching 50 degrees C are they? Prats. Or will Qatar games ko off in the middle of the night.

The only people who think money wasn't the key factor in this are deluded.

LOL that, by the end of 2022, Qatar and England will have hosted the same number of World Cups. Just a complete joke.

Be interesting to see if Soggy can keep this up to be honest, or if he'll at some point concede that Qatar getting a world cup is more than slightly comical

Qatar will be covered in a temporary Truman Showesque bubble fully fitted with state of the art air con, which will be torn down at end of tournament to be disintegrated and made into magic poverty ending dust for the world to share.

Apparently...

Royal Rother
soggy biscuit
Royal Rother I don't really care tbh, but we all know that anything that can be bought will be bought, and World Cups are no different it seems.

Not really. I felt after the presentations this morning that we were clearly the best bid but made my antipathy about the outcome clear long ago.

Do you believe that England had the worst of the 4 bids?

Do you believe that money and prejudice had no part to play in the outcome?

Freudian slip!

Just. A. Joke.

Not losing the bit per say, thought we might lose it to S/P. But to be knocked out first? Really, has that just happened?

I don't care about Russia winning it, they are a large nation that has never hosted the world cup. In terms of bid quality they were only just behind us. We may have the infrastructure, but fifa like their legacies and it will mean Russia spend money on their stadia infrastructure etc.

coming 4th is hard to take though, our media obviously impacted that. We weren't the worst bid.

Qatar though... wtf... do FIFA even listen to their inspectors?
