If as Brian says we bring in a another CB and Sonko is signed effectively as the 4th CB, then I'm happy with this. If he's signed as Mills's replacement then we're going down.

This is so so wrong to take Sonko back. The man is an out an out liability, he had one good season with us, the rest of the time he was a penalty waiting to happen, and those who suggest he was better than Mills must have RTG!! get rid now

He WAS better than Mills. Whether he IS better now is a totally different question.

He was immense in our promotion season and as good if not better in the Premiership until 'that' injury that he's seemingly never been the same since.

I agree though that before the time mentioned above he was at times a liability, but on a free transfer and quite possibly as 4th choice cover then you can't sniff at this. He is better than a punt on a L1 or L2 defender which is pretty much where out budget is catered for at present.

trueroyal1871 Depends on what his fitness is like and if he does the rights things in training to impress McDermott. I think he would be good cover and our medical and fitness staff would help him to stay fit and as injury free as possible.

Considering it was our medical staff that fcuked him in the 1st place by sending him back out when it was obvious to everybody watching the game that he had seriously hurt himself, it's the least we could do!

I don't care how good a guy the trainer was he made a massive error that day. It still rankles with me.

Surely no one could possibly think that Mills 2010/11 was a shadow of the player Sonko was in 2005/06.

Sonko and Inginmarsson were simply outstanding that season. Mills never got amnywhere near that standard in his time at RFC.

However - regarding Sonko 2011/12 who knows? As long as he does not want too much must be worth a look.

Depends how you judge a footballer doesn't it?

Sonko was so fast, strong and good in the air at his peak that he would certainly rank above Mills for me.

But I do think Mills could do more with the ball at his feet than Sonko.

Agreed; when people accuse Mills of being MrHoofball, they've surely forgotten Sonko! His heading was immense though and I remember he scored a few goals from corners even in the season after the Prem before Stoke bought him - how much did they pay for him again?

Sonko is a Reading legend, but no way should he come back. His decision making isn't the best his athleticism got him through a lot, but he hasn't had it since the knee went.

Think he was our top scorer when he left. Other than that, he'd become a complete liability.
