Is the UK average really 34k? I thought it was more around 22-26k!

I can only imagine they're quoting the mean, for salaries median is a better measure and is the one more often used.

Presumably players wages will look equally inflated then?

That low? In 09/10 just over 20k a week the average prem wage. I expected it to be more like £40k.

Perhaps this: "Hull's expensive investment in players finally paid off".

That finally died in 01-02 season, iirc. I'd say unlikely.

You can see a spike (well you would if you'd done an excel graph  ) in the 00-01 season, across tiers 2, 3 and 4. This, I think, would be the effect of the ITV digital deal.

No it was some sort of useful, authoritative source material, thing - AFAIK these figures have never been brought together and published before.

Of more relevance if you bother to look into the figures is that, in 1984, the average footballer in the top flight earned 2.5 times as much as the average man, but he now earns 34 times as much.

And still he will nearly crash his flash car if he's offered an "insulting " pay rise...

With stats like that I'm just grateful that we've got the FSF to call on.

And South Coast Barcelona.

Crewe were also promoted from League 2.
