i'm all for them coming here but they should start from where the likes of afc wimbledon had too. it might not seem fair to them with their operating costs etc, but that is tough at the end of the day.

Not sure that it makes sense to be 'all for them coming' and then impose a condition that makes it all but impossible.

i'm fine with them coming to play in england. i'm not fine with them walking straight into the football league ahead of clubs that been trying to climb the leagues for over 100 years. they should start from the bottom of the pyramid and work their way up, and earn the right to play in the football league and eventually the premier league.

I suspect that the journo here has seen what state Pompey are in, and that they are going to get relegated, so has worked out that there might be a place free in League 1 next season.......and has put 2 and 2 together to come up with this story.

The journo doing the sports pages review on SSN this morning described the journo concerned as a "pubs dart player" of a journalist; he will ocasionally hit the bullseye, but is more likely to miss the board altogether....

It's clearly stated in the league rules that in the event of a club folding, the number of teams relegated will be reduced. There will not be a "spare" place for them, even if Portsmouth do fold.

It really wouldn't tbh, neither would Rangers probably, it would be less hostile but not the same as going on a piss-up in London. The Celtic fans in particular are very anti-british and often sing about the IRA, the queen and Irish folk songs against the oppressive English. They aren't going to stop this and become welcoming just because they play in England. Scotland as a tradition isn't particularly welcoming to the English so a bunch of pissed up England fans all over the city would certainly end in skirmishes and trouble, even more so when the big teams from here go up there.

If they want to put a team in the non-league ala Wimbledon, whilst maintaining their SPL position, then effectively switch over when they achieve League status, then good luck.
