Read what I wrote. Imbecile. McDermott is well liked at Reading. Had we NOT achieved promotion, fans would nevertheless have been disappointed had he been sacked.

Dalglish is well liked at Liverpool, he didn't achieve what he set out to do, but fans are disappointed that he has been sacked.

It's still pretty ludicrous. Kenny who pissed away £100m and took Liverpool to one of their worst finishes in decade when the fans expect to be top 4,
vs
McDermott who didn't spend big and where just finishing in the play offs would have been thought of success by most

:| getting sacked for not winning promotion. :| McDermott would never have been sack for that reason. Suggesting that's comparable to Kenny makes you the imbecile, not anyone else.

I think you miss the point.
The Liverpool fans are disappointed that he got the sack because they desperately wanted him to succeed, not that the club has sacked him.
They realise that (regrettably)he is probably now out of touch with the world of these extremely wealthy young players whereas other oldies like Wenger and Fergie by remaining in management continuously have learned to live with these nouveau riche.

That is certainly the impression I've got from the few interviews I've seen and heard

Liverpool did the double over Cheksea this season. Those 6 points would have put Chelsea third. Which is nice.

Not surprised. He may be an Anfield legend as a player and a manager in the 1980s, but ultimately responsible for Liverpool's worst season in the top-flight since 1954 and spunking away 100m in the process, including 35m on a pikey carthorse.

Ian Royal Kenny who pissed away £100m

I keep seeing stuff like this written, but I am not convinced they were all Dalglish signings, Comoli was there and played a major role in player recruitment and I suspect he had more say over transfer policy. He was sacked a few months back - kinda points to the fact that the board knew he was a bit sh1t.

I think Dalglish has lost is job because -

1. His Premier League performance was poor, although had they had a Ba or Cisse, for instance, they would have finished in the top 6 IMO. Defensively they were exceptional, allowing the least amount of shots on their goal in the whole league, but they just didnt convert enough chances, of which they created plenty, so not a lot wrong really

2. His media handling is woeful, no doubt about that. And I am certain that is something the Americans would have been unhappy with. The handling of the Suarez/Evra affair was a major error on Liverpool's part, and Dalglish has to take a large part of the blame for that

3. I dont think he was their ideal choice last summer, he was perfect for post Hodgson, until the end of the season, but then the Americans probably should have been bold and got their own man in, although hindsight is a wonderful thing! Instead they felt they had to give him the permanent job due to the form at the back end of last season, and also it looked good with the fans, bought the Americans some time, and made them instantly more popular than the previous incumbants

southbank1871 Cmonrz - it's a truly bizarre comparison as if McDermott had been sacked for Reading missing out on promotion, it would have been completely unjustified, as he hadn't spent a shed load of money on some very average players.

Idiots missing my point doesn't surprise me.

Dalglish is revered at Anfield. That gets you some slack. McDermott was very highly thought of at Reading (the comparisons to Coppell had started) before the new owners came in. The point is, the fans love Dalglish like we do McDermott, no amount of circumstance is going to change that or stop many being upset that he is leaving the club.

I'm not missing the point, I'm simply talking about a different one. The one about comparing Reading fans being upset if McDermott got the sack for not getting us promoted. Firstly because that isn't a failure and so not in the least comparably to Kenny's failure and secondly, because failure to get us promoted would never have resulted in him being sacked this season in a million years.

Had Cmonurz said like we'd be upset if McDermott got the sack for us finishing 16th, it might have been a reasonable analogy. But he didn't, so its an utterly shit one. apples and oranges.

We should be comparing Dalglish to that other gr8 Scottish manager Tommy Burns. Came into Reading and blew loads of money (not on the same scale) on very shit players.

Really? Not one of the fans quoted on the news channels have indicated this interpretation.

They realise that he is probably now out of touch with the world

You mean that his stance on racism in football belongs back in the 1980s?

Cmonurz being a pompous prick doesn't surprise me either.

I was merely pointing out that it seems ridiculous Liverpool fans having a go at the owners, when they've invested close to £100m into the club and got no sort of return. (in no way does the Carling Cup count as 'return')

Dalglish is loved by Liverpool fans for what he did 20+ years ago, McDermott is loved by Reading fans for what he is doing NOW.

There is no comparison to be made, you know it, and you're trying to deflect away from your idiotic comparison by throwing names at anyone who dares to call you on it.

No, just people so hell bent on tearing up other's arguments rather than seeing a simple comparison for what it is.

And LOL @ pompous prick just because I join in with the rest of you with the bad words.

No offence m8, but you when you call me an 'imbecile' just for questioning your comparison then you can't really LOL at anything.

You attacked me for simply  'ing at the fact that the Liverpool fans were turning on owners who had invested so much money in the club already. Don't play the badly done to baby act. You're the one who started the aggression.

Anyway, normally I quite like you as a poster so I'm leaving this one be...

Fair enough. Just think not to see why Liverpool fans might be upset at Dalglish leaving is a little short-sighted.

I imagine they will strum themselves into a ecstasy off the back of their normal, collective emotional pornography while being secretly happy inside he has gone. Tactics from the 80s and clearly gone a bit mental
