Manager Betting

by Snowball » 31 Oct 2012 16:40

I used to be a big betting man, now it's just fun but these odds are amazing

Mark Hughes 6/5
Nigel Adkins 11/8

Roberto Mancini 14-1
Paul Lambert 20-1
Brian McDermott 22-1
Villas-Boas 25-1

MADNESS! Surely Brian should be no better than 3-1?

If QPR beat Reading (VERY possible) then Hughes will go out to 5-1 or higher and McD will be favourite or joint with Adkins

And why is Lambert so high? Surely he should be 5-1 or lower?

Spurs are flying high yet AVB is almost the same odds as Brian

I think if we lose at QPR Brian is 80% likely to be gone. That effectively means you're getting 22-1 for a QPR win

Not saying we will lose, but there must be a good chance of it, given last night
and the fact QPR are improving...

It's because we're about to win our next four games on the bounce. HTH.

I fully agree with Snowball's logic, largely because I pointed out how generous Brian's odds were a week or two back.

Unlike Snowball, I am a betting man and have upped my initial bet today having been staggered to see that his price is unchanged following last night.

Really depends on the manner of the defeat.

Christ, you really will be Gregos Traitorelli if you take that bet, but I must admit, they're fantastic odds.

I hope the bets lose, lose, lose, but for practical reasons, it's an amazing bet (repeat, that I hope loses)

It's a 3 or 4 horse race, we might not lose, but last night our jockey lost his saddle.

What I WANT is a great 0-3 win at QPR, then a solid win v Norwich and a point off Everton, beat Wigan and Villa
and then we do something magical in December as well as beating Saints.

But I really fear for Sunday. We could bounce back, do well, but surely the odds are now in QPR's favour?

PS Just seen that QPR H/T Reading F/T is 35-1. Wooooer

If Reading H/T QPR F/T is anything like those odds, it will be very tempting.

I really dont bet so I may well be posting rubbish ( like most on here anyway) but surely the important thing here is its the first manager to be fired. If you look at the likelihood of Hughes or Brian going over the next few weeks and also look at the history of the clubs towards their managers and the expectations of the fans and management at the respective clubs I would expect there to be that sort of difference.

If you were betting on who would be in place at the end of the season then Id expect the odds to be closer.

I agree with Snowball, 22/1 is an amazing price considering last nights capitulation and the look of anger on Anton's face.

Nomad, it's highly unlikely that Hughes will go BEFORE Sunday
but McDermott MIGHT.

Come Sunday RFC are at QPR and the bookies have QPR 5/6 to win it and we are higher than 3/1

If QPR lose I'd say it's 50-75% likely that Hughes would be sacked

If Reading lose I'd say it's 40% likely McD would go. If they lose badly I'd say it would be 75-90% likely
and if we then lost to Norwich, 99%

So the point is, NOT that McD should go, or that I think he WILL go
but that it's "almost" a 22-1 pay-out for a QPR win on Sunday, which,
backed directly only pays 5/6

No guarantees, of course, but what odds would McD be if we knew he was losing at QPR?
