That footage certainly shows what an utterly pointless entity stewards are. Yeah, have the odd one about to help people find their seats and what not but having them there in place of police is ludicrous. Then, lol @ the old bill finally showing up and half of them being four ft tall women who immediately shit themselves.

I thought the whole ticketing was a disgrace. First they overprice it, don't sell out, diss the poor Wigan support, and then sell tickets to anyone.

that's what their job is.

Stewards are not meant to be there to deal with fighting.

The only human being I have ever seen frothing at the mouth was a Millwall supporter in a small group on the South Bank at EP around 1980.

Look at the smile on that twats face as he runs off with his trophy to show da boyz in the pub later. Shame he doesn't realise that he being followed by the tv camera's in HD.

After getting home and seeing himself in all his glory on the telly it was probably wise to turn himself in and avoid the cost of a new front door.

Spoke to a friend that was there yesterday and not far from where the trouble kicked off. He said it had been a pretty horrible atmosphere all day with a couple of minor skirmishes in the pub before hand.
The majority of the trouble happened when a handful of people came back late from the bar at the start of the second half and seemed so drunk that they were falling around bumping into people trying to get to their seats.
A couple of punches were thrown between 4 or 5 people before it escalated pretty quickly. By the time the Police turned up it was a full scale brawl to which the Police had to deal with it pretty heavily thus giving those brawling something else to target other than each other.
No mention at all of any other fans than Millwall being involved.

Saw a West Ham fan a few years ago after Kitson had despatched them for the second time in two seasons eyes bulging and frothing at the mouth. He ran out into the middle of the road in a rage at some kids and was dragged off by his mates before he could get hit by a bus.

Heard reports of a policeman getting off his horse on Wembley Way to baton Millwall fans; and a Millwall fan getting on the horse and riding away on it

Bradford fans scuffling with stewards after the game at Checsterfield too. All a bit handbags if Look North showed the full incident. But LOL at the crusty Bradford fan with the 4ft long ginger dreadlocks, not going to be difficult for the police to identify him.

Wonder if those Stoke fans caught on SKY doing aeroplane gestures to the United fans will get punished?

Same in Germany this weekend too. Lots of fighting at the Bayern Munich Vs Nuremberg match. 61 arrested, 16 police officers injured.

And Greece. AEK Athens match abandoned on 87 minutes

Play was initially halted in the 87th minute, shortly after the visitors took a 1-0 lead via an own-goal and the pitch was invaded by angry home fans.
For more than an hour, club officials tried to convince referee Stavros Tritsonis to restart the match as the stadium emptied of fans but to no avail.
"Hundreds of AEK fans invaded the pitch with planks, stones, iron bars and destroyed everything they found in front of them and they chased us," Tritsonis wrote in his match report.

Had the match been restarted and the scoreline remained the same until full-time, AEK -- 12th in the 16-team league going into the tie but with only a point separating them from 15th spot -- could still have avoided relegation by winning at Atromitos next Sunday.
But the Greek league now look likely to dock the capital club three points and impose a heavy fine, consigning the team to relegation for the first time in their 89-year history.

I think the Millwall fans were just copying the scenes seen at Crawley away. Shame it's always the minority spoiling it for the majority.

Reckon the media love a good riot/punch up at the footy the same as the OB do. They cover it enough and dissect every angle until everyone's sick of it, they just add to the glorification of it all whereby the local hero types become famous for 5 mins of their existence.

Going to Milwall tomorrow..

Hopefully the 9k or so there don't include the thugs who were at Wembley on Saturday.

Sad to see as we all get tarred with the same tag as football fans now.
