Thoughts on violence and corruption in football

by theacademic » 15 Aug 2013 09:02

Thanks to those of you that completed my recent gambling survey. Whilst I am analysing the results, I am also interested in what you make of the levels of corruption and violence associated with football in recent years? The survey is anonymous and can be found at: http://www.topfan.co.uk

If you would like to stay involved in future projects and hear about the results of previous ones then please leave your email address at the end of the survey. Thanks in advance for your time.

Poorly thought-through questions, if you don't mind me saying so.....

You ask in Q1 : "Was Havelange an extraordinary individual who took bribes, or was he a true representative of an organization that is endemically corrupt?"

The reality is that he is part of an organisation where the top layers of management are corrupt but those at lower levels certainly aren't, and are genuinely working for the good of the game - but I can't see how to answer that with the options given.

If this turns into a thread on corruption it might as well be merged with the Qatar thread.

I don't know Havelange at all but I do know very well someone that is close to him.
Whilst he would not directly accuse him of corruption, you would normally expect some sort of 'nah, not really' sort of statement.
The replies in those conversations speak volumes - it's the first option

What about those adverts for Stanley tools at games? Very odd.

Didn't want to sign up to the mailing list but feel it would be fair to share the results on here as you've solicited responses from the userbase here.
