3 - the number of my colleague's hilarious family who phoned her yesterday afternoon to get the Europa Cup results.

I'm glad this is finally coming out, this has been going on for ages, I'm sure everyone knew it but no one could prove anything. Too many odd results, decisions and actions from players.

In hindsight this now looks very dodgy :

Man U 3 - 2 Reading

The Royals lost the influential Graeme Murty with a groin injury and introduced Sam Sodje who amazingly only lasted nine minutes before being sent off for two bookings inside four minutes

Man U home matches likely to attract huge interest from betting syndicates.

I remember being so angry at the time that he did something so stupid! However, I think we would have lost anyway regardless of Sodje.........

Can't see this as matchfixing. Sodje wasn't in the team, nor expected to be and only came on when Murty was unexpectedy injured. Not only that, but his second yellow card was very suspect since it occurred after Rooney had been flagged offside.

It's really hard to fake a pulled groin isn't it?

Sam Sodje and brother arrested in dawn swoop

As this is poentially pending a future trial, I will choose my words carefully.

The former Nigerian International was with the club between 2006-7 with just a handful of appearances.

If found guilty then I sincerely hope they throw the book at him and others who conspired.

Snag is every supporter of every single club will be able to think of games where something happened which with hindsight looks dodgy, and 99.99 per cent of the time it wasn't.

It seems DJ Campbell has also been arrested in connection with match fixing.

Brentford supporting family worried. Both players were at the club at the same time. Looks like there may be something untoward in West London.

Massive fine line all this.

Does not help when bookmakers literally allow betting on anything particularly in-play.

Lots of players including Reading FC players regularly comment on their betting coupons for the weekend. They of course are not betting on own games but even still...

And what about family members, are they not to bet on family connection games?

Minor offences will be rife throughout pro football.

Sure I remember it being reported that Rooneys dad had money on Rooney getting sent off for England and then he inexplicably kicked that guy up the arse in that international

I don't understand how it works. Assuming you can't place a legitimate bet on player X getting a red or yellow card at a certain point in game, everyone knows it's a dodgy market beforehand because you can only do it with an illegal bookie. So if lo and behold he does get booked or sent off, the chances are the bookie can work out that the player has been paid, particularly if - strictly hypothetically, of course - he does something as blatant as punch an opponent in the bollocks for no good reason. So why offer a market on that sort of thing if you know you can be cheated?

Surely Blackpool's recent sending offs look suspect? 3 after 90 minutes the other day?
